Ramblings of a drunken fool

Recommended Posts

Something that I have been pondering for a while now and that has been keeping me occupied in any downtime I have. I wonder, how much responsibility is put upon a persons shoulders if they embrace, realize and accept that they themselves have the ability to shape the paths of their own lives? I see so many people that seem to live far more peaceful and content lives than myself whom are spiritual and have "faith" that everything will be okay. I can't embrace this attitude of believing in an ultimate path for people, destiny, fate or whatever you may want to call it. I have no problems with these beliefs but I can't see the logic in them whatsoever and because of this cannot embrace them personally.
But back to the topic of wonder. I wonder if many faiths and belief systems have come about due to people being unable to cope with the indirect effect of their actions. I do not say this in the sense of "oh no i showed up late to a party which upset such and such" I'm more meaning about those circumstances where you think "wow... what are the chances of that occuring."
I do wonder if these seemingly profound, positive or negative, yet indirect consequences of individuals actions lead to the embracing of belief systems etc.
I'm certain there would be other more profound factors coming into play as well but I believe that every person comes across a myriad of circumstances in which they sit back and wonder "wow. How could that possibly have happened?"

So that's one little rambling thought.

TLDR: Is it easier to accept that the far reaching and long term consequences of your actions are orchestrated by a higher being than it is to accept that every thing you do has consequences beyond which you could comprehend at the time of taking such action?

I tend to believe that we create our own destiny to a large extent, our thoughts shape our experience and all that shit.

Besides a few people I know like Kramer from Seinfeld that always seem to fall ass first into buckets of cash, most of the successful people I know create their own destiny.

The benefits of organised religion seem to be more related the network that pervades the institution than divine intervention.

Similar networks can be built without religious belief.

I suppose it all depends on your own definition of success and fulfilment.

Over the years I've had far too many convenient occurrences that have shaped my path to completely dismiss the role fate has to play. I have not completely embraced the idea but believe that certain pieces of the puzzle are joined straight out the box, its up to us to complete the picture.

I don't think those pieces are pre-joined at the beginning of our journey but I most definitely agree that coincidences occur in life that can have immensely profound repercussions and through no direct action of your own undertaking.
But isn't that just the randomness of existence?

I am most definitely envious of the certainty and peace that many spiritual individuals have in their life, because of their belief in a guiding hand in things (which for some reason is always in everyone's favor, regardless who they are).
But at the same time I feel my discontent in the state of things is what drives me to change things so maybe it's not a bad thing, just less comfortable (seemingly).

But I am open to the possibility of their being some higher being that is beyond our comprehension and that does have the ability to shape the world. I just currently haven't seen anything that is able to convince me enough of embracing such an idea with any conviction.

the tree grew over the grass. now the grass doesn't get any rain or sunshine?

all that is left is a patch of dirt that seemlesly blows away bit by bit in the wind.

what zodiac sign are you?

f.e. sagittarius, apart from being prone to become a drunk, has a child-like attitude, doesn't like commitment and restrains...

to the point of your question :

it depends on the person...
