so whos who? :)

The thing about EGA is that it isn't really an ethnobotany conference, but rather an alternative lifestyle/drug/doof event. Nothing wrong with that and makes for an interesting crowd, but not many were from either EBA or SAB. Most of the folks were from the oztrance forums. So coming from interstate and not being in the doof scenen anymore meant that I actually knew bugger all people there.

We should have had like, name tags. Then we could have put our 'home forum' and nick. :D

I had you pointed out to me Torsten, but I didn't want to do the 'Hey Torsten! I am <insert noobs nick> and your so cool and like.. Wow!'. :worship:

Maybe next time.. :P

For EB we use name tags and we allow (even recommend) folks to use their forum nicks on them. But EGA is a bit of a different style and I doubt name tags would work all that well.

well, just for the record, I hate the worship thing (I was a DJ for many years and already know I'm cool :P ) and people who do that are quickly forgotten (I am terrible with names as it is). I do love chatting about ethnobotany and related topics though and love socialising that way. So if you have something interesting to say or to ask I would love to meet you. Not that it has to be deep and meaningful or seriously scientific, it should just be interesting. Life is too short for small talk

So yeah, say hello next time! And don't be shy to dive straight into a complex topic. People who know me tend to do that all the time.

Though EGA was mainly lecture and discussion based and that dose not make for that interesting photography, and some people are not so cool with that kind of thing anyway, the pics above mainly focused on the other EGA happenings, where people would not be so camera shy. So you kind of get a misleading picture dairy of the event, but a colourful one none the less.

:)

Well as for name Tags, last year we did not even have a programmes, and this year we where much more organized and we had a very beautiful program, so you never know.

Founds this review on some other site, seems to have some more pics :)

EGA , a wonderful weekend spent in wonderful company .

with so much love and time and effort poured into this project it was always sure to be a great success . A big part of that success was also due to the event finding such a perfectly suited venue , or perhaps the venue finding such a perfectly suited event . magic .

So many excellent speakers ! provocative and challenging lectures spread out over the three days , presented by an amazingly diverse range of people . never thought I’d hear a lecture on ayahausca delivered by a former AFL Ruckman for example . Tim was a highlight last year and again this time around , what a champ . I also love hearing carl talk , yay for authentic 60s Californian hippies . So glad I got down on Friday in time for richards “big words, so I’ll speak slowly” talk . Rak Razams overwhelmingly positive vision for the future of the psychedelic movement ( and the planet more broadly ) was a wonderful way to start the day on Saturday morning , great to hear a first hand account of the LSD symposium/Albert Hoffman birthday bash in Switzerland earlier this year . Darpan was highly entertaining , I feel so damn conservative after hearing a guy like this speak . julian rambled on as only julian can . the bill hicks lecture on Sunday morning was also a winner .

Discussions where excellent as well , any excuse to sit in a UFO and listen to people talk shit n sense . my plans to fuck shit up during sams talk came to nothing , oh well…

Couldn’t fully participate in krustys experimental sound gathering as I had to get back to the city Sunday evening , did observe the first hour or two of the ceremony though , and can understand why it was a highlight of the weekend for many .

Thank you EGA , much respect and gratitude .
