Darklight Posted December 29, 2002 Heyas, I'm not exactly cactus boffin of the year, so if anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it. I cut my old loph graft off the top of my old scop ( it was getting too big ). I removed all the pups and cut the parent in two horizntally. Left the two halves to dry out before repotting. After two weeks I find that the bottom half of the loph is having pups! The lack of soil doesn't appear to be hampering growth rate. But now I wonder...do I- - Plant the bloody thing in some cactus mix so the pups and parent get sufficient nutrient to continue? - Not plant it into cactus mix cos the disturbance and watering could cause rot, let the pups scavenge whatever nutrients they can get from the parent, and then plant whatever survives? I'm inclined to the former, but I'd be interested to see what other's experience has taught them cheers DL
Guest reville Posted December 29, 2002 I reckon... Plant it like a sideways pedro in fairly dry mix till it roots And itll root on the bottom and produce more pups to graft from the areoles and scar tissue
