ace1928 Posted December 12, 2020 Howdy all, Looking to buy some seeds/seedlings of a few acacias for a bit of a landscape feature wall. Up for suggestions for good varieties that either grow naturally bushy or respond well to pruning. Cheers
kindness Posted December 18, 2020 What climate zone are you in?
ace1928 Posted December 18, 2020 Not sure on exact climate zone but it gets pretty frosty over winter and very hot in summer. In the mountains though so unless we are in drought you get a bit of rain almost every day.

Also Floribunda would be excellent.
withdrawl clinic Posted December 19, 2020 (edited) and if you want to reclaim mining pollution waste dumps, grow, Acacia holosericea! and some say, it contains goodies... Acacia holosericea - Wikipedia it's an absolute pioneer tree, like all the acacias, that's why we love them sooooooooooo much, hehehe. ace1928 Posted December 19, 2020 Holosericea looks real nice. I think there is a solid amount of obtusifolia on the property already too. Where abouts do you guys suggest going to buy a few hundred or so seeds of each of those varieties? Pretty indifferent about any goodies in them, more just keen on the toughness of them and the nitrogen fixing quality.
kindness Posted December 19, 2020 Google search Australian native seeds... a number of suppliers are available. If you wanted to get a head start you could also search for nurseries selling native tube stock
Buttsack Posted December 20, 2020 You might get some luck from your local markets if there are people there who sell tube stock. Saw 3 vendors just recently who has several varieties of acacia's available. Maybe even your local landcare might be able to help.
