looks like Volvariella sp. are growing from that straw! Is the spore print pink?

Thanks mate I'll print them tonight if I remember! They were already popping up before I put the straw down but yes maybe they like it. I touched an emerging one the other day, thought it was a rock but it was slimy then I knew it was a mushroom. They're quite magnificent and prolific! More rain on the way now, too. Wish I could go and forage for saffies but scared of getting fined by the cops.

Now that you mention it I can see that they are growing from the woodchips. The straw looks pretty fresh too.

 

Volvariella grows off woodchips too, if the spore print is salmon pink you can be fairly sure thats what it is.

 

Wouldn't foraging count as exercise as long as its just you or one other person max?

Thanks for the info. Yes that's true. It also counts as "obtaining food", but the cops have been handing out plenty of fines they shouldn't have and harassing people so I'd just rather avoid it.
