Is This Asbestos?

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I greet you in the Love and in the Light.

I would like to know for certain if this sheet cladding is in fact asbestos.

I've looked online but I'm not confident of my own appraisal.

Any assistance from an expert of sorts would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Infinite Love & Light

It's impossible to tell from macroscopic photos if a material contains asbestos or not. Wear a mask, take a small sample and send it into an accredited testing facility.

Like above said you can't certainly say, but if that's on an older house I'd say it almost certainly contains it, and if you plan on tearing it down I'd do it on the down low and dump it inside other shit, this shit can get quiet costly very quick

doing landscaping and all that shit I dig asbestos materials up more often then not

I have a lot of experience with Asbestos and spotting objects that contain Asbestos. I would treat this object as potentially containing Asbestos. It looks a lot like it and I am pretty sure it is Asbestos. It´s typical for the Asbestos plates that were used as fire protection. But yeah, you would need to get a lab to confirm it. Best call a professional company and have them pick it up.

Wear a mask and break a tiny bit off the corner and have a very close look at the fibres. If they are like tiny fine single hairs in all random directions then it's not asbestos. If the fibres are clumped together in bunches then it is asbestos. Asbestos is also a bit heavier and colder against your forearm,  compated to fibro stuff.
