mysubtleascention Posted October 19, 2017 (edited) I have these wattles started 5-6 years ago from seed giveaways on SAB /Thanks guys!/ I'm not sure what variety/ I think the seeds were labeled acacia maidenii / and I haven't seen them flower yet. Since then they've been indoors, between floors in apartment building, facing North and direct sunshine in the evenings .Summer time microclimate for this spot is very hot and dry and the plants seem to like it. Winters here are down to minus 20 degrees Celsius outdoors and probably around plus 1 in this spot /I haven't actually used a thermometer to find out the exact numbers; might have been below freezing as well../ Compared to other acacia plants I've started from seeds and tried in these growing conditions / for example a.acuminata and a.courtii/ ,this variety handles indoor light well and grows better and faster . The substrate is light mix of loam, sand, perlite, commercial potting mix and leaf litter/humus/ gathered in the park, in 20 litre buckets. Once or twice I've tried to better the pots with some soil gathered under local acacias. I water once a week, or twice a week in the Summer . Low nitrogen fertilizer once or twice a year. They endure annual pruning 30-40% well. The plants drop leaves naturally / renew foliage every year as well. This year one of these gradually lost all leaves in the middle of growing season/Summer/ and I thought it's going to die, but recenty I've found new offshoots coming out from the stem Time to share some photos Enjoy Edited October 19, 2017 by mysubtleascention
