it was okay.  i dont get much out of platitudes anymore i prefer to inform myself with heavier details.

My understanding is that millions of people join the rat race basically because they want to, plus they can buy a bunch of  fancy crap they think will make life better.

For those who want to exit it can be very difficult, it can take a lifetime of effort.

That's where a trip to a developing country can open the eyes and broaden the mind for many. But you can't enjoy a plane trip to another country without some kind of income.

It's just a question of balance. If you're lucky enough to not be living in abject poverty, just be happy with what you've got. Stay out of debt and all the other pitfalls of life, get a dream and work towards it.

My dream was a big block of land beside the bush where I could grow fruit trees. I got that now and I can honestly say I'm much more content than when I was being ruled by abusive people.

Nothing in life comes easy and the hardest thing I found was buying land without going into debt. It was a shitty life for a while but that's the trade off. Making short term sacrifices in order to benefit in the long run.

If you want something enough to actually work for it, you will actually find yourself getting off your ass every day and working for it.

A couple pearls to remember are 'Work smarter, not harder'. 'Make the most of opportunity'. Be a 'already did it' person rather than a 'gunna do it' guy and my personal fave, don't do anything to impress others, do the things that bring you happiness regardless of what others might think of it.

I believe there is not a problem that you cannot solve with just the power of your brain alone. But I also believe in higher forces.

Everything in life has a balance.

Yes but only if I get time off work :P I plan to work a lot less soon, but unfortunately there will always be bills to pay.

Can't wait for my cactus garden to grow big, though, then I can retreat into my own little tranquil escape and finally become one with the universe.

Only occasionally emerging on a full moon to scavenge for food out of people's bins.

Anyway, it is actually quite possible to have all your dreams come true. Find out what you want in life. If you really want it soooooooo bad then set your goals, work hard, save your pennies, practice utilizing the immense power of your brain.  When you get knocked down, keep getting back up, solve negative crises with positive choices. And FFS stay out of trouble!

Just like your mum told you

Good luck bro

I'm not seeing any concrete or practical suggestions in this. Waste of time

I agree slocombe, but it's still thought provoking and people can generate their own answers and awareness from it.

It's a bit amateurish, but even Einstein was an amateur once.

Just to finish off my other comments, I've also found that chasing your dreams can take you through hell and back, but in the end it does seem worth it.

It's easy for people to say things like 'follow your dreams', and 'just be positive' and all that shazam, but don't think it will be easy in any way, and be prepared for a lot of people to try to drag you down and stab you in the back and be jealous of you, even if they have a lot more than you do. They see something enthusiastic and free and they HATE it LOL. Maybe it reminds them of how trapped they might be in their own lives etc, I don't really know but, watch out for bad people they can bring you a lot of grief.

And there will never be an end to the challenges in life. Basically my life is still the same in every way, except I have a nice big block of land to go with my problems now. Life still gives me the shits most of the time LOL

The bit that anoyed me was how the film maker spent the whole film warning of human arrogance then ended with 'only our genaration can fix this'. Of cause being arrogant himself but worse relying on the arrogance of the audiance to sell his message. Yeah this film is a bit of a cliche, doesn't mean its not true. I think most people know about the problems raised. I think many people even now how to fix them. I think the political systems we have in place just aren't up to the task. Socialism looks great on paper, but relies on a lack of greed and leaders with integrity. The first is a lost cause, while leaders with integrity find it very hard to make it on an unfair playing field. If they do make the top job, they don't live long. Probably the biggest problem with socialism is the lack of any insentive for excellence. Our own system capatalism certainly addresses that one, but at what cost. The only possible way to maintain continued economic growth, at least in the short term, is for the wealth to be concentrated into fewer and fewer hands. History tells us the inevitable outcome of that will be revolution. Preventing, or at least delaying this eventuality is unfortunatly the big politacal distration of our time.

One solution would be to cap wealth, especially business wealth. Small business is not only better for the economy, they improve the social structure of the communities they belong to. The only real downside to putting a cap on how big a company can get is some things may get a bit more expensive. A small price to pay for a better world.

Down with civilization! Down with society! Down with everything! Turn off the switch!

(just kidding)

I only managed to watch 3 minutes of this asinine sensationalism. Most of the issues brought up in that time were inherent issues of civilization that have been going on for 1000's of years. SJW fight for the world/save the planet arrogant nonsense with lack of any true insight into human societal history. The only thing we are doing differently now from the times of the Romans or Pharaohs is scaling the politics, destruction with technology and population growth. The methodology and sociology hasn't changed at all. The reality is we need society, we can't just all go back to living in caves and foraging for a living like we did many 1000's of years ago. Mostly because there's not enough caves nor stuff to forage for the 7 billion strong plague.

One could interpret the system as a lie. But it is a very successful lie built on a premise of growth that has brought peace, health, population and prosperity to more of the world than ever in history. Most of us wouldn't change it if we could, except to take more power/money for own causes. It's human nature.

So no... we don't live in a lie, just in a system. Only the deluded, media fed believers and ignorant choose to see it as a mechanism of deception or get irrevocably caught up in it's intricacies, despite all the power games that us greedy humans are playing. For the vast majority of our population nothing there has changed for 1000's of years either. Just the same there has always been the free thinkers who want something different from their lives.

I know I don't offer any solutions either. But we all know how we deal with plagues of other species, it would be "inhumane" to deal with ourselves like that.

Nature deals with plagues in another way. It let's them consume all available resources until they die, then lets other opportunistic organisms feed on their leftovers. The cycle of life will continue irrespective of whether we survive or not.

Living in a lie stems from ones definition and scope of what their perceiving as the lie. I mean, shits real isn't it? I can touch it feel it see it sense it. But only on this frequency we vibe on.

Its just another create awareness thing where some one who doesn't have a solution is trying their attempt at making a difference. Which is great... the more people who acknowledge lifes not really what we truely want inside, the greater the chance of one of those people to work something out - and make a difference.

All in time to be sabotaged and removed by people who have greater interest in the current model.

Like anything, people have both a part of the answer and a part of the problem. But so many people will never know.
