Kicking off

Hey I've finally got myself a place with a yard that I will be in long term and I'm keen to kick off an ethno garden

So come at me with some suggestions for a beginner, some favourites etc suitable for Lower Hunter.

Cheers!

As far as things like Sida, is it promoted/ethical to grow something thats known to be invasive?

Some may frown upon it, however ive never seen any where I live. And Im only going to be collecting seed from 1  or 2 plants. The rest of the seed heads/plants will be removed before they are mature.

Good one Johnny. There are a few keen gardeners in the Hunter/ Central Coast area on the forums.

Ayahuasca Vine (Bannisteriopsis cappi), Chacruna particularly the Psychortria 'Nexus' hybrid, Acacia obtusifolia &San Pedro etc (Trichocereus spp.) are all well suited to your climate & should be a stample in any ethno garden, in my opinion.

I've managed to tick a few off the list, obtusifolia , nexus, all kinds of cactus, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, mint, lavender and many table herbs.

The post title can now be taken to mean kicking off as in springtime. Such good timing to start up a garden as everything is shooting and I can watch it change daily!

Including the attached valerian which I thought was dead but kept watering anyway.

Happy daysdays
