Drildo Posted May 31, 2017 Damn guys! I have filthy mites all over my caapi 'tucanuca' cuttings. They've been looking sad for a while and I pulled one leaf off about a fortnight that had some mites on it... I should of been more vigilant. Have a look at these pix and please share some advice on eradicating these pests: It wasn't until it got really windy that I got a glance of the underneath of a leaf and nearly died... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the only stuff I have for treatment on hand at the moment: Can I dilute wettable sulfur and spray caapi safely? What are these things anyway, just your everyday mite? - I'm new to gardening - what a massive fucking shame
-RC- Posted May 31, 2017 Wipe em off and make sure you get them all. Give it a dose of seasol and powerfeed mate. And a decent hit of sun. Then check it every day. She likes the attention
Drildo Posted May 31, 2017 i will wipe the fuckers off most def... but would a nazi shower be recommended (wettable sulfur) as well? dang
Drildo Posted May 31, 2017 I feed everything pretty regularly with seasol+powerfeed too... may of been 10 days since i fed this caapi, and its rained in between... plastic pot too, i worry about wet feet?
-RC- Posted May 31, 2017 Fair enough. They love it in the ground though, and I've had those black ones before as well, hence the advice. As long as the drainage is decent and she gets a bit of sun I reckon you'll be right mate.
Drildo Posted May 31, 2017 ive only had it about a month... just nursing in this nasty plastic pot over winter then banging it straight in the ground. cheers for the advice RC ill pick these vampires off tomorrow and give her some love.

waterboy 2.0 Posted June 1, 2017 I'm on me phone and swearing... Lol... They look to be aphids to me and how they cluster. Hose em off if you can or wipe as RC mentioned. Reduce the population then reases in a few days.

But hey who knows bro, maybe they did, if you have a problem pm me and we can discuss it that way. Could be thrips?? Either way couple drops of detergent in a spray bottle of water sorts most bugs out, dont stress, they are tough plants
Drildo Posted June 1, 2017 No dramas, no problems benno they may of come from here, or come in the mail. Doesn't matter either way, bugs are an inevitable part of gardening. No stress mate. I'll try and sort the fuckers out and nurse these cuttings through winter. Will look to get more tucanuca from you after winter, and expand into cielo & ourhinos. I saw an infested leaf early on, should of kept a closer eye. But they haven't perished yet - hopefully I can perform some magic, coming into winter is a bugger though. 25 minutes ago, 2XB said: Either way couple drops of detergent in a spray bottle of water sorts most bugs out, dont stress, they are tough plants So hand/water removal and spraying with diluted detergent works aye. What about this sulfur I've got lol... im itching to give it a try, it says it works for mites... Just not sure if it would be damaging to caapi? its designed for plants obviously so I doubt it'd fuck anything on contact. Cheers everyone.

sagiXsagi Posted June 4, 2017 yeah they seem aphids... hose off with water first , then spray the detergent.. repeat.. potassium salts work too. should be okey, climbers are a magnet for pests some times...
