How to get cacti flower to fruit

Recommended Posts

Hello, this is the first cactus I've had that has flowered. I currently have all my cacti in a hothouse (enclosed) but a few are beginning to flower, as this loph here. My question is, should it be outside to fruit, or do I have to cross-pollinate it on my own to make it fruit, or will it just do it on its own?

apple iphone 6 huh......  :)

check out the dried fruit on the other head, its got some seeds inside....yer plant must be self fertile.  twirl a tiny paint brush in the middle of the flower, brush more pollen on the pistle, maybe you can increase seed count by assisting pollination

seems like a caespitosa strain.

lopho self-pollination seems like a hit or miss. I am not really sure but casespitosas seem a little bit "easier" to fruit
