Cool work guys! I haven't really gotten into haworthia (yet!), I've only got a few.  I've got a heap of seed down and will prob just wait for these!

Where are people getting their plants? eBay by the looks of a few.. anyone wanna share suppliers?

Bunnings has had some Haworthia limifolia and some different attenuata lately, $5 each, nice n cheap, couple of different Gasteria as well.

Ebay is my main source of Haworthia and Gasteria, Lithops and Conophytum.

common ones are buy it nows, $6 - $11 ea

The more special vars are mostly always auctions, pay anywhere between 100$ and 500$+ depending on the variety

heres some sellers that are good

Thelivingrock - the best Haworthia on eBay, most are grown from seed by the seller, some plants he sells are 10+ years old

best plant packaging on eBay, adds extra plants if you spend a bit, a bit is usually over 500$, also gives free post if spending up big.

IMH - cool seller, has a nice collection of plants, has given me free post often when I've spent much moola on his auctions

Hamwor - good seller, has a nice collection also, adds a free plant occasionly, yet to wrangle free post outa him though

usmobhere - regular seller on eBay - buy 8 plants n get free postage, well packed plants, often adds freebies if you spend a bit

maton51 - some nice plants as well, sends quick, n packs plants well

all these sellers offer combined post and charge for the cost of postage only.

The only seller I've been able to buy privately from (not off eBay) is Thelivingrock, this is only after quite a while of buying plants from him through eBay, have attempted private buys from the other sellers listed above n have had no luck.

if I lived in Vic or NSW or Qld where these sellers are I reckon it might be possible to meet them at succulent society shows n then go from there.........

Thx soooge don't worry man I raid every bunnings I see ;) the occasional gem to be had but it's very location dependant it seems! Thanks for the eBay links, nothing new here but I'm sure others will find it useful.. succulents really are a growers market right now. I'm not much of a society kinda guy but maybe that's gotta change ;)

Awesome thread! The succulents you sent me are going great d00d! I'm off tomorrow so if I remember I'll snap some pics :)

I can confirm your suspicion that certain plants are location dependent, I work at Masters (for now lol) and work in an area with loads of units/apartments - we sell no Jacarandas, the only trees we sell are small palms, whereas the nearest store to us which is in the suburbs is loaded with all kinds of palms, Jacarandas, Frangipanis etc.. This was one of the first things I noticed when I started working there. Essentially it comes down to the plant specialist and whether or not they know the area, current trending plants etc. So yeah there's no default stock for all stores, can't talk for Bunnings but I'd assume it'd be the same.

Ours aren't very fancy, not many tags etc, but I love them :-) Our collection has grown over many years of swapping cuttings but occasionally we will grab something from a nursery if interesting and the annual succulent show up here(bris) is a great place to get unique flavours :-) I'm a little bit scared of going down the collector lane with haworthias etc as it is a never ending quest, i've got enough obsessions at the moment, but goddamn there are some beautiful plants out there!!

It's a slippery road DB ;) i have over 45 echeverias, 35 epi's and 25 zygos, all unique. i don't have the space for haworthias unless they are hardy enough for full outdoor exposure. I like the aloes and gasterias for this, they are hardy buggers and very forgiving. I'll snap some more pics when the rain stops

"Gotta catch 'em all"...lol... havent got the bandwidth at the moment but I'll be back.

My collection has mostly come from cuttings I've found about the place. I've found old ladies sunrooms and back porches at times to be havens of succulents, and when you show an interest in a cutting you end up with a heap....lol.

EDIT- nice thread d00d:)

Regarding suppliers... Making friends with the old folks from your local cactus and succulent society, and attending their sale events. Usually cheaper than eBay
