Id - Dehydrated Peru ?

Question

post-6697-0-43462100-1459518708_thumb.jpPeru ? Not the best photo and the dehydration does not help. Will just have to grow it out and see.

Old photo. Taken some years ago. I need to get a cutting back of that clone and grow it myself I gave it all away. The radial spines put me off Bridgesii as an i.d. These radial spines are not unusual for bridgesii ? I am used to seeing maybe 3 to 0 radials on my bridgesii.

No, with that radial spine, the low rib count and the ribe shape all other potantial candidates are out the question. And the skin is typically for a dehydrated Bridgesii skin too. A normal pic will help to verify it but I really have no doubts here. The only alternative is Tr. cuzcoensis and that one differs substantially from what you have there.

at a glance I would have said bridgesii, but would have wavered after a closer look.

Bridge. Eg is expert.

Zelly is one too. Just let it grow for a while and post some more pics once it´s bigger. I am sure it´s a bridgesii but some plants can look tricky. Give it some time....in a year you´ll be able to say more about the ID.

i just think the areoles are too woolly to be a bridgesii, not to mention there would be some serious spination happening if it were growing in the ground

& to be honest, I'm no more of an expert than the man in the moon....

Clearly a bridgesii, and it doesn't take an expert to tell. :P

Hey Nut, agree that it´s a bad pic. :) It´s a bridgesii!

i agree its a bad pic & disagree on it being a bridgesii, leaning more towards a dehydrated peruvianus ......
