Auxin Posted April 23, 2002 If you plan to grow a plant checking the drug laws is not enough! You must also check the noxious weed laws and any other plant restrictions that apply. Many plants are illegal not for their phytochemical constituents, but rather for their ability to destroy the ecosystems of entire continents. For instance, in my area milk thistle (not a drug, but a great liver medicine [seeds]) is illegal to grow because its a 'class A noxious weed', I'm lucky I found out about noxious weed laws before planting a whole crop of milk thistle! The fines would have been heavy, $750 (USD) for the first offense (year) and $1000 (USD) for any subsequent offense. And thats the fine you get for EACH SPECIES of class A noxious weeds found growing on your property in my state. Grow With Caution. Knowledge gives power, and ignorance gives massive monetary fines.
