cactus ID mucho thanks ..

Question

Hi

came accross this cactus alone in wet area of nth nsw. Has no real spines. feels slightly spongy and bloated to the touch..wondering if it is san pedro in nature..?? thoughts appreciated..

That's a Scopulicola. It looks far to healthy to be randomly growing in the wild and was probably someone's property that you have taken.

yeah .. friend bought a place which has mexican villa feel to it..all sorts of cactus and succulents..which he had no interest in .. this cactus was the only one of its type amoungst many other varieties..once i showed interest was encouraged to take it .. just pondering weather i will plant it or pass it on to someone else who takes interest in it..prob pass it on..

Thats a great find then, you should plant it. Just make sure the wound is calloused nicely first. With big pieces like that you can accelerate the callous hardening with a bit of morning sun on the end. Big scops look quite majestic, its a keeper.

ok .. weight of numbers..and yeah is nice cactus tip section will plant out...mid section likely put as first item up on swap/trade board :) been interested to come a across shroom spores to study for mycology purposes for a bit now..see what the universe brings..thanks for all the advise
