TCM#1 / kada's garden / looks like Smiths "short spined peruvianus" (wrong name), and propably CCC and altmans clone too.

P1140275.jpg P1140277.jpg

^^^^^^

my most prized specimen. I expect it to flower at some point soon, and I assure you I designed it to be so beautiful - and well maybe I was a bit lucky since the column hasn't yet terminated, currently it is reverting to monstrosa growth a period when column growth speed reduces dramatically .

P1140274.jpg

^^^^^^^

new surprisingly long spines in older growth (well not surprisingly, its a pachanoi, no?) in another specimen. main column has terminated. one of the pups seems to have pupped - not sure why, but propably not damage.

PS: ALL TPM#1 's I am showing in this thread come from a single clone (kada's garden,)

finally peruxjuul's monstrose- relevant,,, idk? but this is another seed batch that produced mutations and crests, i have four clones of this seed batch, 2 only vary slightly, 1 is a consistent monstrose columnar (that alot of you have seen elsewhere), and one is such a tight crest that it has curled all the way over on itself, like a clinched fist.

k. done for now ill take more pics later

wow, post moreplease!!

besides TPM could both men pachanoi or peruvianus mosntrosa

so its relevant, bring them on!

TPM#2 "crest type" / europe . I sourced it from "kakteen plapp" a german nursery at 2008-2009 ... doesn't really revert to columnar except for a little bit untill it goes crest again.. faster growing than TPM#1 IME

P1140278.jpg P1140279.jpg P1140280.jpg

P1140281.jpg P1140284.jpg

and 2 of my biggeys... They too could flower some time soon...

P1140285.jpg P1140286.jpg

PS: all TPM#2 specimens I am showing here come from the same clone / variety : "kakteen plaap" euro "pachanoi crest"

an overall comment about me comparing TPM #1 which seems to be mostly columnarish for most, and TPM#2 which is obviously the TRUE crest , lets say ( a reference to the "true blue" )

the reason I compare them is that when I started growing TPM#1 it became a crest (came rooted from Taiwan) and I dealed for a long time with both clones as crests, and really didn't didn't find any differenence in them... (was a complete newbie at 2008) except when the TPM#1/kada mother started going columnar again ... by that time, I had created various crested specimens of it. So it was (they were) a crest for me, at least at the begining... and when it went columnar I tried to create a bunch of them columnars ... after several years, I realise that the two strains TPM#1 and TPM#2 have huge differences, yet once they looked alike in my eyes.

peace

in fact I got a feat that can differentiate the two two strains from the crest density: TPM#1 crest is less dense and bigger TPM#2 crest is more dense, smaller and curls more ... (for same sized spcimens)

I intend to so some measuring experiments... the spines are diffent also... TPM#1's spines are more sturdy.

( have grown them for 7+ years in full or almost full sun )

now this is a seemingly different clone, from oz, australia, bogan-land

its seems a bit different than say TPM#2 but its early to say how its different.. for once I saw reddish spines, and reddening of the epidermis near the crest margin .... (plus there was some glaucousness)

P1140287.jpg

might end up to be a peruvianus crest / monstrosa

The garden is going well, thanks Olive. In the process of doing the backyard yard now, though will take a while to complete. But have been collecting a lot off nice plants for it, they then will motivate me to get it done!

dammit , absolutely gutted that this beautiful monstruose 'hulky -skin' looking pachanoi alty has crested , ... and it's the second one that's done it now..

Do non-cresting monstruose pachanoi exist? or do they all crest eventually?

i hope this was the right place to ask ;)

I sure hope this doesn't happen to melted wax and cockie bridgies...

if you're talking about mine, yeah I have had success even with random ebay sales. And I have sent cuttings to a nice SAB person, I am not sure if it was just the crest/TCM clone or also the altmans/TPM1 monstrosa one..

now I dont know if they are the originals, but they're both very popular clones.

When I got mine from kada's garden some years before, a rooted columnar-monstrosa cutting, I planted it and it reverted to crest. Kada was amazed and said this hadn't happened to him. At first I thought this clone to be mostly crest, but then it started reverting back to columnar.. Over all its not an often but also not a rare occasion. I have narrated over this earlier in this thread too.

you can consider yourself lucky, or else there are many things you can do if you dont like the crest.. like cut the fucker at the lower column level.

and no a semimonstrosa bridgesii will not revert to crest, but that would be an awesome thing for most of us monster lovers.

Well, tastes differ. The fact your column is doing a crest at the top is fucking awesome. you just dont realise it yet.

And California Cactus Center's (CCC) T. peruvianus (which became T. peruvianus short spine as discussed on page 1.)

This ones as tall as me. The crest is just a few years old.

A monstrose form from US eBay seller Jessica, described by a member here as being Heavy As Loving Fuck. Came to me from Southern California, not too far from CCC but looking at the old growth I think it might be a different form. Time will tell.

Just started cresting this season.

Sacred Succulent's Clone A. I think this is the same as CCC's "peruvianus".

And sorry, I know you wanted columns but crests are what I've got available at the moment.
