Cactus of the month year day thread? Which cactus is really shining for you right now?

Recommended Posts

I'd say In about 30 or so years I'll have enough flowering plants to give it a go haha

Lovely, Matt! I love the colour on these flowers, it's a fricii, right? Looks almost as vibrant pink as a jourdaniana.

Then I'm 99% sure this is an L. diffusa var. fricii

If it was a jourdaniana it would most likely have many pups by now. Here's my jourd to compare:

Cereus Peru monstrose, came across this one  on a family friends farm just on the edge of a forest, huge cactus and about 10 self seeded smaller cereus around it, only one of which is also monstrose

Found a baby variegated crested Zelly seedling today amongst my many seedlings. So, even though she is a baby... she is my favorite seedling of the month.

I'd say this girl is really shining for me right now. Suffice it to say, she has made herself well known in my little garden. This first one areolegraft2.thumb.jpg.849f40cb0b22baa71bba96768f6ab9c3.jpgbeing one of the larger grafts I did with her...Just a month old, but looking mighty fine. I am graft. Other than that, I can't get enough of my scopulicola x terscheckii hybrids from Zelly. Those suckers are off the chain. Never mind some of the crested forms popping up here and there in my seedling bed. I'm so thankful I took the time to be the graft.areolegraft1.thumb.jpg.f56e1714d33d4f0962c24e90088b8514.jpg

Wishing this girl had some Hulk pollen to place don.thumb.jpg.bbaa11a6903044d1347274ff10218717.jpg but such is life. Still, lovely flower. If any of you guys see a q-tip fluffed like mad and running around with Hulk pollen let me know.

I have quite a few different crosses growing, scop as mother or father. Scop genes seems to be very dominant on the visible side.

Will see what the future brings out of approx. thousand seedlings.
