Flux Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) Hi Folks, My first post here- I have just recently (2 weeks ago) received my baby Caapi and she looks a little dry around the leaves. I don't have the greenest of thumbs' so any help regarding potting, soil, conditions, etc would be most appreciated. Re-potted with premium potting mix and bark for drainage, I have her outside in a sheltered, shaded spot. attached are some pictures. thanks in advance, Flux Edited June 24, 2015 by Flux
Strontium Dawg Posted June 24, 2015 Ideally you want to give her some rootspace, preferably in the ground, but if you can't do that then get a bigger pot, like 20 litres or more. It will save you having to keep repotting it. Caapi likes rootspace. Keep up the water, but don't drown her, and a fertiliser with some good amounts of N will help her when it warms up a bit. Not sure where you live but they dont like it too cold.

Flux Posted June 25, 2015 Thanks heaps... That makes a lot of sense...have only this morning noticed some little roots appearing on the surface of the soil, so will repot today (was worried that too much repotting too soon might be a little 'traumatic'). I'm near Coffs Harbour so the winter is not too cold...It's mostly chily wind coming off the ranges and the sea. If or when it drops below about 12 degrees (overnight that is) I might bring here inside maybe. cheers
