terraferma Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) Is there a way to store trichocereus pollen for a few weeks, possibly a few months? (waiting for flowers to open...) Anyone has had success with the freezer? I normally keep it small transparent resealable plastic bags. If you have any better suggestion, I'm interested. Edited May 2, 2015 by terraferma
Evil Genius Posted May 2, 2015 Storing pollen for a few months is usually not a problem. But it has to be dry and the surrounding temperature should be as low as possible. I use pergamine paper bags to store pollen. It lets out water/moisture, which is the number one killer for viability. In addition to mold.

BigHeart13 Posted June 8, 2015 When you say as cold as possible do you mean in the freezer?

I've always stored my pollen in the freezer whether it was Brugmansia, Datura, Echinopsis, or Hemerocallis pollen, Pollen always seems to stay good in the freezer for several years when frozen if it is not brought back and forth out of the freezer. Otherwise, you just have to have the right pollen you want to use and the right cacti blooming at the same time
