Are there any floating around AU? even if you don't have one to part with, let me know what's out there.

I'm keeping an eye out for any nice chunky glaucous blue columnar cacti, something similar to Pilosocereus sp. such as P lanuginosa or P pentaedrophorus. Smaller spines and the chunkier ribs the better, also somewhat interested in Pilosocereus magnificus or Pilosocereus pachycladus.

These were the pics that renewed my interest.

After a little more research I realised P lanuginosa may actually be Pilosocereus lanuginosus, not sure how much it matters, but I also found a few more pics of more or less what I'm looking for.

Pilosocereus glaucescens (Original source)

Unfortunately these photos are all from collectors in the US or South America. If none of these sp. are in AU yet I'd still be keen too track down something similar.

Pilosocereus lanuginosus

Pilosocereus fulvilanatus
Pilosocereus glaucescens
Pilosocereus glaucochrous

Pilosocereus magnificus

Pilosocereus pentaedrophorus

Cheers for the link, I asked the seller for some more photos, but they reckon it's too hard. It sounds like a nice sized Pachycladus though, II'll go and check it out if I get time to venture down to Swinging Pig :)

^^ those are some pretty interesting plants there micoz... seed grown?

in_spirit that is a Pilosocereus if that is what you are asking. It looks as if it has been damaged by frost in the past, they are a bit sensitive if you live in a cool area. The new growth looks good though.

Hey micro, yeah i know it is a Pilocereus, or was thinking it was, i do live in a a cool area of the sub tropics, i.e. a pocket that gets heavy frosts but not regularly. My post was for ambient, who was asking for Pilocereus, and if it was in Oz.. but yeah you nailed it having damage, the new growth is always better.

^^ i gave up on pilosocereus for that very reason and I only get a few (maybe 3-5) mild frosts per year, but the terminating became frustrating. In suburban adelaide though they are fine, because they are more sheltered, my garden is very open. with a micro(megas) climate you'll be fine they are quite attractive.

another worthy non-trich blue fella is azureocereus hertlingianus which does not apparently mind the cold but does grow quite slow.

Very interested in all these blue torches. Have P. azureus, P. lanuginosus, and T. glaucus. Looking for

P. magnificus and P. pentaedrophorus. MUST BE BLUE!!!!!

Can swap fancy-flowered echinopis.
