Monster and semi-monster bridgesii 's : general phenotype discussion

Recommended Posts

Just to let you guys know... there is a Variegated TBMC in existence. I am not going to post a picture however due to not having/asking permission to share it and it not being my photo. Just like the variegated penis cactus this plant came into being from a 'normal' tbmc.

this is not my plant, photo was posted on here by another member, this is what my plant is meant to grow into. i have a few cuttings just cut and potted, and a small mother plant. Ive been calling this midform.

post-4415-0-64976200-1428631271_thumb.jp

this is my mother plant. I havent yet let it grow out to its full potential, ive been taking cuttings once they get to about 10cm. but even so you can tell it is different to standard tbm.

some might say this just looks like a long piece on a standard tbm..I completely agree.

LOL Zelly it wasn't your plant I was talking about but thought it wasn't seen before by others. Great that this plant is actually in the hands of a few people already.

It looks quite nice and is indeed a nice addition to some collections.

its not that there dont exist cresty parts in my specimens, but they seem to grow very slow compared to other melty formations

I am not sure it can even be changed by grafting...

Dichotomous tbm, cut from a crest and grafted.. will update here on any new growth, hoping to see the crest continue growth, maybe it will turn into normal tbm?

*double post, from grafts/updates thread to here..

So one of my bridgesii crest produced this monstrose pup.

I don't know if it's starting to go variegated or is it something else.

I am in Canada, a lot harder to find cacti but especially bridgesii crests. I have a few panachoi and bridgsii, nothing special. One "4 winds" but ultimately that's not especially crazy. Thinking of trying to buy one when I am in the US and bringing it back with me if I go. Otherwise I don't have much opportunity! Great collections guys.

Wha? Where from Europe for pennies? Do you have a lead where to find it? It's too beautiful. I went to San Francisco two years ago and saw a succulent show with a penis a meter long with no spines. Amazing. Actually I should have that photo...

Okay looks like I found it. Very cool if you ask me, but definitely looks thirsty. Interesting, it was in June, you'd think it'd be awake.

Does anyone know if there's a non-monstrose bridgesii crest?

I reckon it looks like a "normal" crest with bridgesii spines, than these wavy crested sections on the tbm crest.

ohcactusisgood>>well , not pennies... it looks as if he adjusted the prices to more normal... thats good...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRICHOCEREUS-BRIDGESII-MOSTRUOSO-CRESTATO-16-cm-cactus-ariocarpus-/381251472137?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item58c45bcb09

philocacti>> check out pimento's post and crest and zellys comments + pics in page one of this thread..

The characteristic in my clone is the general lack of many spines, the thin narrow wavy edges (from time to time) and the tendency to make penises, either as a normal branch or extending from the mainbody.. and the tendency to be often spineless, when making a real crest

PS: Looking for buying or trading the cresty/spiny strain

Damnit. I'm really jealous of all those sweet bridgesii crests.......

Anyone know if they are in any NZ collections yet? I would trade almost anything for one.
