Help with Pachanoi white spots please!

Question

hi gang,

Hoping you can help me with this problem my pachanois have. The white spotting is only in small areas now, but I want to get on top of it before it gets worse. I'm sure I've seen this kind of thing before here but can't find anything. They are north facing with full sun, watered every 1-2 days and no ferts at the moment.

Any help appreciated :)

This can be caused by various things. Most benign one would be nutrient defiency. But I honestly think that this could be viral or bacterial. Never seen a plant that had so many yellow spots so I would seperate it ASAP and try giving it some fertilizer. If that doesn´t help, you should probably get rid of the plant before it spreads. It´s definitely not variegated and my first guess is viral. Then bacterial and then fungal. None of them are actually easy to treat. You could try with an antibiotic or something antifungal but treatment of plants is very difficult and oftenly not possible. But let´s rule out the most easy one first and see how it goes.

Thanks EG.

Its actually on about 6 of 20 plants to varying degree, from a few spots over a couple of feet to the 'concentrated' ~20cm part in the pics.

Does the clean growth in pic2 (above the spots) make you think it could be overcoming the problem already?

They are all in the ground so I may have to do some heavy pruning if it can't be overcome.

Yes, the clean growth is the one thing that is promising and maybe with a very big maybe, this is nutrient defiency. I would recommend not to prune until you know for sure that it´s actually spreading to the fresh growth. Give em a good chemical fertilizer with phospor and every other trace element that is known to cause problems when it´s not available to the plant and keep a close eye on them. I mean, the fresh growth doesnt look sick at all and it´s possible that this is basically something like herpes for plants. If all is fine, the plant keeps it under control but whenever there is a lack of nutrients, the viruses can spread through the plant and produce those yellow spots. They look very viral and there are countless viruses that can infect plants. In many cases, they are not lethal and this could be one of them. Nonetheless, if this isn´t going away in a couple of months, I´d really think about sorting them out before it can spread through the collection. Sucking insects spread infections very easily. But at this point, I´d rule out nutrient def first.

maybe viral... maybe some overheat caused it?? I had some marks like this with scops that were too close to the greenhouse nylon, but these seem more... viral.. could be wrong... I get something like these in some pachs , but its not so bad
