HolographicYou Posted December 11, 2014 Hey there corroboreans! Quick question regarding collecting seed pods off of acacia. I understand collecting pods should be done when they have dried and are about to open. Although I was wondering if there was a means to mature the developing seeds away from the plant. Better yet how many weeks would you say (from observation) it takes for a green pod to fully develop to brown and popping open? Kind regards, HY
theuserformallyknownasd00d Posted December 11, 2014 It varies too much with environment, type etc to give you a solid answer for your last question. Some take 12mths. And no, I doubt you could remove the pods and mature them off the tree. Maybe if a largish branch was taken it would have enough energy to compete the job? Crack a green pod, sometimes they're ready and just waiting On some hot days to dry the pod ;)
