Getafix Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) Well not exactly an id request as I know half of what this hybrid is. Rosei 1 open pollination. The first pic is from the same seedlings and looks very much like a Peru (Rosei) but what do you think got in to the next beauty?? Stunning Trich seedling. I am thinking Werdermannius/Terscheckii.. All the spines are golden/yellow. Not reflected in the photo but they are. What do you think?? Getafix Edited December 4, 2014 by Getafix
0 Evil Genius Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) Hi Getafix, it could help if you´d mention what you had flowering at that Time. Looking for the Father is as difficult as in Maurys Show! Could be Terscheckii but could also be Cuzco. Fathers Genes are oftenly not dominant in Regard to the Appearance. Most Plants resemble the mother. 0 Getafix Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) Wish I knew EG. A batch of seedlings that came from Tripsis. I know id is impossible just wanted to throw it out there and see what people thought. My opinion is the plant is the wrong colour for Cuzco. Quite a pale green of the Terscheckii shade. Cuzco x Peru would produce a similar colour plant. No fading of the spines either in older growth. Phoot doesn't show it well but all spines very yellow/golden Getafix Edited December 4, 2014 by Getafix
0 Evil Genius Posted December 4, 2014 Spination could very well be influenced by Terscheckii. I assume you had One flowering at that Time?

0 Evil Genius Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) Ah ok, I am a bit slow sometimes. Well, yeah, the skin color looks very green. I had some that looked like this and were Pachanoi Genes. In Particular, Torres & Torres. Terscheckii is possible too. Even some lesser known Ones like Spachianus are thinkable. Will be hard to get a definite Answer now, but please show it over and over again until we can track that SOB down to make him pay his Alimony. ;) Edited December 4, 2014 by Evil Genius

0 ☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) I saw a trichocereus poco (at least labelled as one) with that (or very very similar) spination , after hunting a bit for images, this is the closest i can come up with for now but first thing I thunk seeing that second pic was terscheckii though i know im a noob at cacti but I've been scouring the net over them for about 3 years , mainly photographs rather than being next to a plant - with the exception of my own collection - -my fat werdermannianus has a tendency towards a more browner "gold" on the spines but the central tends to point skyward for the majority of the plant- - also the "gold" is often not nearly as visible unless the sun is shining through the spine the shape of the spines made me think peruvianus, validus, chilensis, poco (top of post), and candicans ... and thats in the last 3 mins since seing your pics, if i think of anyother suggestions later that havent been added by then , I'll add them I think I see what you mean about them slightly hinting cuzco but kinda less with you/behind you guys on the colours for now ... beautiful plants Getafix! .. i hope that yellow spined one turns into a fast growing menhir for you what about taquimbalensis - tip skin is showing a colour/sheen much similar to my candicans which I've been noticing myself for the last few months .. only on the tips of my two baby taquimbalensisthat i bought labelled as werdermannianius... (infact its almost like looking at one of them with terscheckii/candicans coloured spines instead of taquimbo coloured spines when looking at your yellow spiny) i dont know how better to describe this green, for now than; - plastic looking - with yellow tendencies which is epitomised by candicans to me Edited December 4, 2014 by ☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ

I'll post pics next time I'm with them but they look spot on, these are the first pics I've seen resembling them!

0 Strontium Dawg Posted December 8, 2014 My rosei open pollinated seedlings are still very small, much slower than all the other trichs I started at the same time. Some of them are very very pale, almost to the point of albinism, which I suspect is a reason for their growth rate, they just can't photosynthesize efficiently. I'm trying to get some peres to graft some time give them a chance.
