Introducing "Zebra"

Recommended Posts

This is an "Ecuadorian pachanoi X Psycho0" grown from seeds which was gifted to me by nitrogen 3 years ago.

I grafted it along with another one of its own siblings to pereskiopsis while the rest of the batch was left to grow on their own roots.

I fell in love with this one starting this growing season but a couple of months back it started to display this stripped glaucious pattern which I've never seen before.

I called it Zebra.

Hi Philo, yeah looks cool! Do you have Pics that show it with a more natural Lighting? Not sure why, but I have problems recognizing something with this Image Mode.

Nice, time for a bout of areole grafting :)

It's the end of the season now, so I'll have to wait till next spring ;)

Great, I never new Psycho0 had this stripped pattern. This one took a lot from it's dad I guess :)

Is it just a striping in the glaucous coating that rubs off or is it part of the skin?

edit: just wondering, never seen this.

Zelly, I'm sure you do my friend :)

It's one of my top things on my bucket list to do a safari in you national park, if I ever come to your side of the globe

Turtle - It's glauciousness that rubs off, although I didn't try to touch it.

Still not showing the same pattern that made me give it this name.

In September it will be clear if it won't display it again, cuz it it only appeared late in the season.

I kind of think it must be environmental. I've noticed the striping on a few different plants of mine. Fields pach seems to do it a lot.

Regardless, your zebra is a great looking plant, Philo. :)

This Fields Pach gets lots of shade from early afternoon onward.

This Fields pach is in full sun and you can still see it, just not as pronounced.

zed your pachanoi is a beauty

I, too, think it's mainly environmental.

Discostu, says that psycho0 displays it too.

I believe zelly has a few, which display this pattern as well

Philo your "Ecuadorian pachanoi X Psycho0" looks nasty, real nasty. I bet she's at least an 8 on the nasty-ness scale.

(nasty)

The new growth is all covered with the glaucious layer. I can only see the stripes on the older sections.

Both you gentalmen have very beautiful specimens.

I get the zebra thing a bit in my semi shaded garden as well.

Here is a couple of ozzie pc pups from the bottom of a loph graft... One pup was dichotomous.
