Should be Lamprochlorus. How large is it? Candicans is almost identical but doesn´t get that big in height. Pretty sure its Lamprochlorus, now Echinopsis Lamprochlora.

I don't know man, I'd guess T. candicans or T. pseudocandicans. E. lamprochlora seems to have a little more dense spination and more ribs, while also lacking the "horn" colored spines. Has your plant bloomed yet?

I'm surprised...harder than I expected........I thought it would be some kind of cold tolerant common floral type...Echinopsis ?

I guess looking at the pic's for Echinopsis candicans

That's seems to fit & the height ..up to 4 ' daves reckons.. the largest of mine is ~3'

Echinopsis Lamprochlora spines look different...this has really hard long spines.

so thanks everyone I'll go for T. candicans.

Some of mine have the dead looking trunk. like pic below, infact the pic looks identical..

Hi Guys, i included pics of the Lamprochlorus that i bought from a Cites Nursery. I

The Reasons why i think it is Lamprochlorus are:

1. The bright green color of the Epidermis. It´s exactly the same on my Plant. Some candicans look similar but it´s mostly the varieties that were actually included in Lamprochlorus. Trichocereus Candicans var. Nitens was recently moved into Lamprochlorus because they were almost identical. Epidermis on the candicans i grow grew look more like Terscheckii.

2. Where the pups come up. See the pupping pattern on the base, a little bit above the ground? Candicans pups oftenly come out at other places.

3. Please compare the spines. The brown Base of the spines and the golden Tip. Same on my plant. Also, see the swollen base of the spines? And the 4 middle spines left and right?

5. Candicans oftenly doesn´t grow upwards but grows in lower groups.

As i said, this could also be Candicans because they can look VERY similar and i could live with that because i think they should be put together in one group anyway, but i wanted to add why i prefered Lamprochlorus over Candicans.

EDIT: Had trouble with shockwave and flash pic upload. Working now.

thanks very much for that EG, your pic's look identical, (same pupping) also daves puts its hardiness @ -1.1c, which could be why they/mine seem scared on the lower stem.

T. pseudocadicans would be my bet. Theres a few of these floating around some of the older cactus collectors in NZ. Someone must have sowed a batch of seed at some point amd been shared around. I have a very small one I was gifted by an old fella.
