^^I was thinking bondage mistress.

Deadwaits, hello and welcome. I appreciate your respecting the first rule of SAB club, but you may be taking it too far from "unincriminating" to "incomprehensible". Try the search engine for help phrasing your other request - google works better than the forum search, there's a help page around somewhere explaining if you don't know how.

Orange is a fruit. Orange is also a colour. Hence a thing or two.

Photo's always help when you want something identified. Naked photo's are better though.

The only word in the 20-volume historical Oxford English Dictionary that rhymes with orange is sporange

well colour me orange, that's three things

Are you offering anything in exchange?

Many of the members here can be bribed with alcohol, food, or a few hours assistance in their gardens.

Money kinda works, but not as well as beer and food. Trading books or plants or mechanical assistance is likewise excellent, they don't have to be ethno-related, just coveted

What would you be able to offer someone who has the skillset you would like to acquire?

Or, hey, just show up to the next Melbs meet and smile at people, that works too, and is free.

Why would you assume people would think you are planning to waste their time?

Teaching people who are interested and commited to their work is fun

Although at no point have you been really clear about what it is you want to learn. Is it plant identification generally? Acacia identification?

Mainly plant id could include some acacia id too. Mushrooms among other things and how they may be used.

I want someone that finds it fun otherwise theres no point.

Maybe even a bit of help cooking too.

Please excuse me if I asked for anything im not meant to.

Your requests are so vague and unstructured as to be almost meaningless

All those things you say you are looking for are kinda like saying " Can anyone help me to do brain surgery" Plant ID is a field in and of itself, some people have enough experience to recognise certain groups and there are experts in the field. But it's a large field and people spend lifetimes in it

What you're asking for on the thread looks incriminating. What do you mean by 'cooking'? There are plenty of recipes on Chill Space for meal preparation, but it doesn't sound like that's what you are looking for, what you're asking sounds dodgy. I could be wrong

Do a TAFE course. They're really satisfying and you'll meet lovely people on the way. Nobody can upload all the info into your head in an afternoon

Go to a Melbourne meet, they're very friendly

Learning about plants is a joyous process and we all had to start somewhere, so start and keep going. It's also not uncommon to take an interest in something new and then find out it's way more complex than you thought, happens to me a lot

But give more of yourself other than these broad statements. Like, who are you? What plants interest you specifically? Do you garden? If someone helps you are you able to return that help now or in the future?

Thank you so much darklight for all your help :)

I am a bit confusing when I try to explain things as I am only new. I love gardening, I get it from my mum.

Ive looked into tafe courses but if someone knows of a good horticulture or botany course please post.

I am able to repay any help.

The cooking thing sounds bad but I mean more for medicinal purposes.

I love cacti (I know wrong area) and would like a basic understanding of Australian native plants but I will use these forums to grasp that.

Sorry for being so noob.

Everybody was noob here once, and I'm never spot on, my initial prediction when this place opened was that it would only last three months :D

Really, get thee to the next Melbs meet, it still sounds like you want to learn everything- Melbs meets are really friendly and there may be people there who are specialised in one aspect or another of botany who will be able to guide you more in person

Please don't worry about being new there, take some food or plants to share, it doesn't have to be much, or the best thing ever, it just shows your willingness to participate and share what you have. It could be a tiny African violet and if you share it with a big fucken smile, that's what will get noticed

If there is a Society for Growing Australian Native Plants in Melbs? They'll have lots of keen people who will welcome noobs too.

http://anpsa.org.au/

And wherever your local cactus and succulent society is, there also shall be plant freaks
