Nice one ph. A guy I know used to work for the council nurseries and relished planting e australe along major roads around here, hundreds at a time :)

In Canberra? The references I've seen say they flower in their range in Spring and fruit in December, YMMV.

Am close to their native range but I've never seen one. Illegal in NSW anyhow, even tho they're native.

Chemovars would be of interest :)

Sorry I should update my location to Brisbane where I am living now...took some photos of the sample last year, need a positive ID as this one doesn't have the dots on the stem...will upload when on computer

No cutting took unfortunately, so I am going to air layer/plant seed. The property owner guided me to it as he had people from the university surveying the land and they mentioned the significance of it etc

Ta for feedback on cuttings, it's good to know what doesn't work. I've heard cuttings can be difficult too

Bonsai would be interesting. Send pics when you do it please?

These are not australe but it looks like erythroxylum's make pretty nice bonsai :)
