I have a ' non PC pachanoi ' purchased from a member here which has a nice blue to it, it sits under the verandah and only receives morning sun for 3 - 4 hrs, then a few more hours of 50%. It's my favourite pachanoi !

Mutant this "Zeus". I have not clue what it's origin is.

A member here IDed it as argentenisis. Micheal suggested it's some sort of hybrid.

To me, with my inexperienced eyes. The areols represent T. pachanoi. My opinion is pachanoi and peruvianus are different variations of the same species.

I don't know if my post is helpful in anyway with your survey, but thought I'd share cuz any little info can add up to the big picture ;)

In my vote I sayed cuzco is probably different from the (pacha)/peru/macro komplex. I'm not sure about this on second thought. What about those Tarma peruvianus or the plant slice found in Chavin de Huantar?

http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Ethnogonzo/media/P8150104_zpscffedbe5.jpg.html

Is there a link between pachanoi and cuzcoensis, or peru and cuzcoensis, as there is in peru and pachanoi? The San Pedro Triangle?

My thought has it that T. peruvianus evolved on the western side of the Andes and that T. pachanoi is a cultivar of it, but that there are also all sorts of intermediaries on the spectrum between the two which also evolved in the west, including T. macrogonus (if you want to view it as somewhat distinct from T. peruvianus), T. pallarensis, T. santaensis, and the plants of Chavin de Huantar. T. cuzcoensis evolved on the eastern side of the Andes and includes plants such as T. tarmaensis, T. knuthianus, and T. tulhuayacensis. This is of course not to say that some of each haven't made it over to the other side by people and maybe deposited a few genes in the pool here and there.

This link's to a map I created with information gathered from Backeberg, but I need to do one which includes a bit more info and from multiple sources.

At last!!! I was wondering when someone was ganna make such a map!!!

bravissimo this is really awesome!!! thanks for sharing !!

Michael do you have any thoughts as for the difference in growth speed between the typical peruvianus and a typical pachanoi? Hmmm this should have been a question of the poll, in regards with speeds...
