-RC- Posted April 1, 2014 (edited) A new study conducted recently has found that picking psilocybin mushrooms is incredibly addictive. Research shows that the more you pick and consume, the more likely you are to want to pick and consume. The study, which involved one participant, showed that although more than one species of mushroom was picked this was not associated with satiety of the need to pick. Rather the opposite was true. As the one participant stated, "It's just fuckin great aye. I feel like a kid in a candy store, except it's free! And of course the shopkeeper could turn angry at anytime and gore me..." The study also showed that adrenaline was occasionally produced during picking, largely due to the proximity of large bulls, jumping fences, and the prospect of being shot at for trespassing by angry farmers. Despite all of these potential dangers, motivation to pick remained high throughout the course of the study. Researchers are now speculating whether addiction to picking would be negated by introducing a less adrenaline charged setting, with only one species on offer, but as one participant put it "I don't really give a shit which ones I pick, or where I get 'em. As long as Mother Nature is offering them up, and I'm where I'm supposed to be when I'm supposed to be there, it's kind of my duty to harvest them I reckon." Researchers are concerned that there may be an increase in the consumption of psilocybin mushrooms due to the increased availability, which may result in absolutely no physical side effects at all, an increased affinity for the wonders of the natural world, and a more acute sense of the absurdity of so-called cultural 'norms'. shortly Posted April 1, 2014 Who says its picking thats addictive, snapping photos is every bit as addictive. With the wet weather all the beautiful flushes of all manner of fungi about everywhere i managed to turn a 5 min walk into a six hour photo hunt, and even then i only bailed because i runded outa batteries including both sets of spares. I recon it’s the thrill of the hunt that keeps us going & coming back for more.

machineelf Posted May 2, 2014 My crackpot theory; Eating the mushroom allows the mushroom entity to live in your mind. The entity makes it appealing, via neurotransmitter release, to pick more which helps spread the spores and the love. Something like that.
