-RC- Posted April 3, 2019 Get out there! More rain on the Sunny Coast, so more gold on the way!
-RC- Posted April 3, 2019 No really. Oh. My. Goodness. If you have ever even thought about having a squiz, NOW is the time.
ph7 Posted April 3, 2019 Lol. I am going tomorrow, for sure. More good rain here now. I've been on google maps looking for cows/horses in fields Got a few places to check out.
-RC- Posted April 5, 2019 Well if anyone has checked anywhere you would've found something by now. You have to really look though, not just look, ya know?
ph7 Posted April 5, 2019 Yeah I went out yesterday and found some very promising places. Found several Pans but they appeared to be inactive, black spores but no bruising at all Definitely need to get down close to the ground! I will try the same area again when it is less busy
-RC- Posted April 5, 2019 Yeah, there are a variety of panaleous sp. about, usually with the brown stipe which is bit more fibrous I want to say. No bluing of course, but apparently a non-toxic relative? These imposters, along with pan cyans and cubes, can all be found growing out of the same pat up here, so taxonomy is key. Pedro99 Posted April 8, 2019 (edited) I've been looking the past few days. I live on the beach (sunny coast) and was just looking through the bush behind the dunes. Probably not a great place to look but I've never picked any before. I found some that looked kinda promising but there was no blue bruising so just chucked em. I've got Paul stamets book, don't really wanna carry it round with me though haha. Thinking of just buying some woodchips/cowshit spreading it out under a sprinkler for a few days, you guys reckon I'd have any luck? -RC- Posted April 8, 2019 Depends where the chips and poo came from bruz. Beach is a no go, hinterland is the business. Find the cows and you find the mushroom. This weekend should be a goer after this coming bout of rain. You'll have to get along to a Sunny Coast meet mate, and we can shoot the breeze and that
Pedro99 Posted April 9, 2019 Thanks for the tips rc, I'll have to go for a look this weekend. I do a bit of rock climbing in brooyar near gympie and there are tons of cows out there, could be worth a look too.
Pistol Posted April 10, 2019 Hey guys thanks for the great forum. Has been a great help. What do you think RC, still worth a forage up the Sunny Coast? Or has the ship sailed on the recent rain fall?
-RC- Posted April 10, 2019 Definitely worth a look, especially over the next 4 - 5 days as we get sporadic showers, but still with a bit of humidity. I reckon after that the soil temps will start to drop away pretty quick, and that will be that. Perhaps... I've found them in May so we'll see...
-RC- Posted April 12, 2019 ... and has brought the gold with it! Enjoy!!

Pistol Posted April 18, 2019 Is it still Still worth a forage?
-RC- Posted April 18, 2019 (edited) Definitely! Especially with the soil temps holding and big rain coming. Edited April 18, 2019 by Responsible Choice
Pedro99 Posted April 18, 2019 Think I'll actually go looking this time.. Looks like it might be raining till Wednesday.
Pedro99 Posted April 24, 2019 Just went inland sunny coast, lots of cows but none out of view of houses. Walked along a paddock in a small town and there were hundreds of mushrooms and a lot looked (from a distance) like what I was looking for. Unfortunately there were many people watching, I couldn't find anywhere that there weren't people around. I did stay within about 30 mins of the coast though. -RC- Posted April 24, 2019 Still quite a few around, but it is super soggy underfoot. Over the next 3 - 4 days should see a reasonable flush, but I don't reckon it'll be too much longer and the season will pass. By all reports a very fruitful one indeed!
-RC- Posted April 29, 2019 Feels, and looks, to me like we are winding down now. Temps have dropped enough to really slow fruiting. Apologies about the lack of mushroom porn this season by it slows me down
Pedro99 Posted April 30, 2019 Hope you got a lot of goodies!
Pistol Posted May 2, 2019 Interesting blue bruising mushy with white gills. Looks like an old cube on top. Perhaps it has dropped all of its spores? Any thoughts?
-RC- Posted May 3, 2019 Veil remnant - check. Bluing - check. White gills aren't uncommon with cubes, but a black/purple spore print would be the deal sealer for me I've seen many cubes with caps like that, and yes, it's seen a bit of sun and is aged.
