Found several Pans but they appeared to be inactive, black spores but no bruising at all Definitely need to get down close to the ground! -RC- Posted April 5, 2019 Yeah, there are a variety of panaleous sp. about, usually with the brown stipe which is bit more fibrous I want to say. No bluing of course, but apparently a non-toxic relative? These imposters, along with pan cyans and cubes, can all be found growing out of the same pat up here, so taxonomy is key. Pedro99 Posted April 8, 2019 (edited) I've been looking the past few days. I live on the beach (sunny coast) and was just looking through the bush behind the dunes. Probably not a great place to look but I've never picked any before. I found some that looked kinda promising but there was no blue bruising so just chucked em. I've got Paul stamets book, don't really wanna carry it round with me though haha. Thinking of just buying some woodchips/cowshit spreading it out under a sprinkler for a few days, you guys reckon I'd have any luck? This weekend should be a goer after this coming bout of rain. -RC- Posted April 10, 2019 Definitely worth a look, especially over the next 4 - 5 days as we get sporadic showers, but still with a bit of humidity. Pedro99 Posted April 24, 2019 Just went inland sunny coast, lots of cows but none out of view of houses. Walked along a paddock in a small town and there were hundreds of mushrooms and a lot looked (from a distance) like what I was looking for. Unfortunately there were many people watching, I couldn't find anywhere that there weren't people around. I did stay within about 30 mins of the coast though. Over the next 3 - 4 days should see a reasonable flush, but I don't reckon it'll be too much longer and the season will pass. White gills aren't uncommon with cubes, but a black/purple spore print would be the deal sealer for me I've seen many cubes with caps like that, and yes, it's seen a bit of sun and is aged.
