I just found a really good spot near the Cunningham Highway. Went for a look on Friday, plenty of shrooms around. Just no cubes yet.

I'll be back there after the next good downpour.

Yeah, not enough rain up here yet by half, and the humidity is still way too low

Brisbane area is meant to be heavy rain and storms Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Get them ponchos and gumboots ready for Sunday morning people.

If we see the forecasts met for Thursday and Friday in terms of rainfall and humidity it will be interesting.

They look suspiciously like cyans to me, which I found today by the way.

Get a spore print (which should be black) but really pinch or bend the stem. It should bruise greenish blue to inky blue in a few minutes.

That big one looks like an older one, with a bit of a blue tinge to it as it sort of cracks, but it's hard from the photo to tell. The big one is so shiny and looks like it might be a bit frilly which isn't necessarily cyanescens (excuse spelling).

Most that I find have a little tinge of gold about them too on the cap, unless they're old ones.

Post your pics in the id thread  and take more too!

and yes, hunting is one of the most enjoyable experience in my life as well :)

Here is another one I want an id on I'm pretty sure its a look alike. Grows in dung looks very similar to p cyans but doesn't bruise blue... its rather abundant in qld and I'll usually see a few poking up well above the grass. This is a pic of a young medium and old onepost-7956-0-91586900-1418524082_thumb.jppost-7956-0-41125700-1418524151_thumb.jp

looks like this one I posted in another thread, which I was informed is panaeolus antillarum.

there are also some other inactive panaeolus species around, one with a more copper coloured top and brown to red stem. when I was in Indo the locals reckoned they were active but wasn't convinced, no noticeable blueing. come to think about it, the fact that psilocybin containing mushrooms stain blue is quite convenient. it is almost like they want to be found...

Pans are still peeping up if you know where to look. A bit withered and fried, but still.

I've found about 4 cubes in the mix as well over the last week or so, but the next decent bout of rain should (hopefully) see the cubes flush properly.

Fingers crossed
