nice growth rate id pls

Question

Hi all, I got a cutting from a mate a while back, pretty sure he got it from a nimbin market or something like that... it was about 700-800 mm when it broke in a storm last winter. I left the stump and cut the growing tip into 4 equal sections...

The result is about 5m + of vertical growth over several pups in about 3/4 of a year... this seems like a pretty sweet growth rate to me.. the oldest pups around 600mm and the growing season isn't over here in subtropical southern hemisphere..

Anyway I like this cactus and guess its a pachanoi, and was wondering if any experts would like to speculate on a possible origin or clone name...

I dont fertilise religiously or anything and when I do just half strength liquid fert...

Any comments welcomed!

Thanks

DB

Probably some sort of hybrid with a PC.

Many pc pach hybrids I have seen develop very large spines almost what you would consider "cuzcoesque". This is just something I have noticed, which may add weight to the idea that the pc pach is actually a hybrid in itself. there's that article trout wrote on pc Pach hybrids with interesting pics somewhere on the web its worth looking at. Not saying this isn't a pc hybrid just something I have noticed in my own experience.

Interesting thoughts, Michael are you detecting pc for any particular reason??

I see it in that the areoles are so stark/white.. otherwise I really dont get the pc vibe...

I stare at all my pach long enough and I think they are all pc ;)!

This one out grows others I considered pc by far.

I definately agree with everyone saying its nice.. I never get tired of gazing upon this bad boy.

Ps it gets pretty much 100% intense sun for 10 hrs + a day in summer and soaks up extreme temps like a trooper! No problems beside some mild sunburn when totally intense...
