Don't get me started on this. :BANGHEAD2:

My whole website is devoted to the comparison of harms caused by alcohol when compared to those by cannabis.

This article is pretty pertinent to this issue, imo.

Why is it a necessary cause? :scratchhead:

EDIT: maybe overpopulation. Still seems a bit harsh but.

Necessary cause to the death, so they wouldn't have died during that time period without the impact of alcohol.

Ohh. Silly wording that is, sounds like a bureaucrat came up with it.

Why is it a necessary cause? :scratchhead:

"Necessary" in this context is used in the necessary vs. sufficient sense. If drinking alcohol were a "sufficient" condition here, then everyone who drank would be dead. To say that drinking was a necessary condition for their deaths just means that the deaths would not have occurred (in that time) without it, i.e. alcohol was "necessary" for those people to have died. Er.. so what Ceres said. :P

Oh, and I think it was probably philosophers who came up with those terms, damned bureaucrats-of-the-mind.

i don't believe it, serious!

i just don't believe the figures.

So how many people are dying every year from obesity? millions? nothing compared to 80k...

what i see in hospitals, in the general public, alcohol is nothing.

United States ended 2013 with a population of 316,128,839 people

What was the population count at the start of 2013?

*313,873,685 at end of 2012.

Not much of a climb, seems to be slowing..
