Just to clarify - if you PM'd me with your addy with regards to my seed giveaway I will be mailing you the hybrids (Btw the giveaway is closed).

It is a lot of people, and I've spoken with Zelly about the way there are going to be more folks who won't get in on the giveaway who would like some of the seeds.

So, once I've divided out the seeds for the giveaway and see what's left, the idea is that some of my seed can be included with certain types or quantities of purchases from Zelly..

Howdy mates, I've got a bit of an update. For whatever reasons my plants decided on a late summer flower explosion & over the course of 4 days I pollinated 55 flowers, all of which appear to have taken.

Among them are LJ x psycho0, HZ x LJ, clyde x LJ, bridge helen x psycho0, helen x LJ, helen x HZ, HZ x helen, helen x ss02x01 & a slew of other new hybrids, including a few with the variegated grandiflorus as pollen donor. The variegation seems to be a dominate trait in hybrid seedlings.

Other breaking news, Nitrogen Santa Claus stopped by and dropped off several baggies of his highly sought after seeds, asking me to disperse them to sab members who didn't get in on his recent giveaway. reference ( http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41846 )

Both nitro & I agreed on certain qualifying conditions to get in on his freebies, the first one being you are an active contributing sab member as of this date with a minimum of 50 posts & second you buy ~$40.00 worth of seeds from me. I will disperse the seeds at my discretion, the ideal recipients being growers / enthusiasts in overseas countries. Last but not least, Nitrogen would really like to see your pics of the plants you grow from his seeds, so please post them in his Connoisseur Hybrids thread

To get in on Nitro's freebies, just identify yourself on the paypal form with your sab handle & then send me a pm. If you want to order a few now to lock in Nitro's seeds and ship later when I have more hybrids to offer, i can do that also; just ask. I will refund the shipping charges on deferred shipping orders, the one criteria is I can only declare 30 packets per customs form. I'm well aware of labeling requirements for certain locations so that all orders arrive without any issues.

You will definitely receive seeds of one or more of Nitrogens 2015 hybrids:

Psycho0 x LJ and or

Psycho0 x Sharxx Blue

& possibly seeds of LJ x SB, LJ x TPM, & or Psycho0 x TPM

To clarify - me offering the additional seeds as add-ons to orders with Zelly isn't just for the people who didn't get in on the giveaway - if you are part of the giveaway you can also order seed from Zelly and can receive additional nitrogen seed.

I presume "Leyenda" is "Parque de las Leyendas", BK08611.5 grown from seed collected by B.K.and not a clone as the name would suggest. If possible please clarify.

Nitro: I did not qualify for this endeavor, spent merely 8 dollars. Any other way to get them?

Leyenda: Legend, in english

.

quoting from http://misplant.net/

Trichocereus Pachanoi Leyenda "The Legend" (BK08611.4) is a very unique "True" Pachanoi form from Parque de las Leyandas in Peru. Sourced by Sacred Succulents, it is extremely rare and belongs in every collector's garden! This interesting plant produced one single flower this year, its first ever! SAB member AZS provided pollen to Misplant, who was successful in producing seeds by cross pollinating with other highly collectible Trichocereus species.

As far as we know, this is the first time the genetics of this plant have been used to produce hybrid seed for sale.

What does calling a plant BK08611.4 tell us?

Well, according to BK, bk08611.4 tells us it was the seed collected from the 4th plant in the month of November, 1986 field trip to S. America & only BK has access to the field notes.

Personally I think Leyenda has a much nicer 'ring' to it than bk08611.4

The name "Leyenda" not only has a nice ring to it, but it is also a way for me to identify and track this flowering plant moving forward now that it is a pollen donor for seed. Just think, wouldn't you or someone you know want a cutting of this plant a few years from now? Or if future flowering occurs wouldn't it be easier to track crosses that way? I had originally contemplated the name “Milagro” because this unexpected flower was practically a “Miracle” for such a small plant.

The two plants shown on the website were sold to me exactly as you see in the photos with the labels provided directly from SS as BK08611.4. At the time of purchase no information was provided as to the origin of these plants, which is why I included the photos as shown. The flowering BK08611.4 is now being individually tracked. When it comes down to it, does anyone really know where the plant in Jardin Botanico, Parque de las Leyendas came from originally? Does anyone know anything else about it really?

Everyone knows that all seedlings have some variation from the parents and that’s what makes growing from seed so interesting and exciting. The fact that zelly was able to cross his Huarazensis with this one-of-a-kind plant was quite a feat, and I hope everyone has great luck and enjoyment growing out the resultant seedlings.

Thank you Zelly, for clearing up the BK numbers. I've been wondering what the numbers meant for a while now.

Also thanks AZS for donating pollen so that we can grow these out! Very much looking forward to watching them grow up! :)

a name for any seed grown plant is fitting, such as all the named icaro sourced seeds that have producued standouts that are now cloned by their name. If you only labeled it bk08611.4 there would be great ambiguity to the identity of which one. BK still sells seedlings of it to this day, there are probably thousands of them. Some of the seedlings germinated crested and others mutated. Furthermore he sourced seeds again from the same local in 2014. From my understanding the BK08's are from the 2008 trip, not 1986. btw, i think Leyenda is not only great sounding but very fitting.

Here is a pic BK shared of the 08611.4 mother plant with EG from his website Trichocereus.net. The field trip notes and even dvd's are available for purchase from ss... if thats what you want spend your cash on when you buy from them

Bridgesii 'Helen' x Macrogonus. Loving the red spines, although the camera makes them look brown.

a grower tipped me off that most of the validus x variegated red grandi seedlings he planted were variegated, so I planted a bunch myself...

the seedlings that have survived my rather brutal care are all lime green & I suppose i should try grafting the several that completely lack green chlorophyll .....

just throwing it out there because it just dawned on me... Many of Leyenda's brothers and sister's have come out monstrose and crested. While Leyenda isnt a freak (in that way), she has got the genes and who knows what may become of her offspring!

here is a pic of one of leyend's sisters and of the hzxleyendas pop'n:

I don't quite know how to post pics on this forum yet but as soon as I do I have a bunch of Good Ole Zellys babies growing over here. A lot of which with some interesting growth habits.

I have 1 specimen that drops all of it's spines as it grows all on its own. It only has spines on it's top 3 areoles.
