Zelly's trich crosses, got pics? post here please

Recommended Posts

I thought it would be nice to have a place where everyone can post pics of zellys crosses. I have 30 or so different crosses from last years batch growing and would love to see other people's seedlings, most of mine are still pretty small but ill post a heap of pics on the weekend :)

These are my biggest so far :) validus x bridgesii out of 50 seeds all but two were highly variegated and only a few variegated seedlings have survived

Nice. What do you make up your seedraising mixes with?

Thanks man, that lot of seeds I put down in 100% prop sand but I'll never use it again as it's a pain keeping the moisture up. now I use a mix of seed raising mix, sand and perlite and the seedlings grow a lot faster and fatter in it :)

Great idea mushroomman!

Got plenty of Zelly's stuff going but it's all tiny yet. I'll post up as they get a little bigger.

Got my fingers crossed on the validus op variegate crest! Hope it takes!

I just planted some of zelly's crosses as well. They're still very young though. Will show some pictures when they get bigger.

Looking good Getafix :) all my seedling have been grown under lights as I'm living in a unit ATM, can't wait to be able to grow them under natural light again.

Mate you got an awesome collection going on there!!

Mine are all super sun hardened now and have just survived a week of 44 degree's out in the sun and still looking good. Heaps of daily water.

Will get them into the ground with all my other Trichs when they get a bit bigger.

Love all these Validus crosses!!

Is it a problem separating these guys when the get older???? I always try to give my seeds some space. I imagine all their roots intertwining when planted like that...?

Does it matter?????

Mine are always planted closely. It's a job getting them all separated but it only slows em down a bit after transplanting. I always make sure the soil is moist so the roots are a little more flexible and the soil easily shakes free of the roots.

@ doublebenno. Not really a problem just time consuming as EthnoGuy said its a lot easier to separate whilst soil is moist. I now only sow max 20 per pot to make repotting easier !

@ Getafix. Thanks mate but it's really nothing compared to yours, I just hope that one day I'm in the situation where I can put all my plants in the ground. I have a few crosses going that I think you would be really interested in, will let you know when they are big enough to send some your way

@ EthnoGuy85 sorry to here mate , did you loose all your validus seedlings or just the one you grafted? I still have a few seeds of most of zellys crosses left if you want any.

I have a good many of his crosses too including Lumberjack x Juuls and Juuls x lumberjack. Mine are over a year old. I got a bunch of albino's from these two crosses but failed at grafting them :(. I also had excellent germination rates from most of his crosses. I'll try to get some updated pics in the next few days, you can find some old ones that I posted in the Lumberjack origins thread.

These are a few of Z's SS0201-x-Kimnach and PC-x-Peruvianus

Indoor grown only 3 months old - notice the single skinny mutant or possible spachianus-crossed toward front right of photo?

A very nice pilocereus sp; the 'hairy' areoles is the giveaway. Could be another species but I'd bet on pilocereus.

either a stray seed or a total awesome freak IMO. Don't write it off just yet :)

Looks like a cereus or pilocereus to me. One of my macrogronus x bridgesii "Helen" seedlings is red/yellow. I think it's variegated. :)
