Hey thunderhorsepie regarding the possible-amadou in the previous post, yeah my first guess would be Ganoderma too - I didn't even know we got Fomes fomentarius in Australia. They sound pretty cool though. Then again, so are reishi. Actually, I think all bracket fungi are pretty groovy. Or, come to think of it, just fungi in general are pretty awesome. Nice find, whatever it is!

Ah right TH, my apologies, was looking on my phone, which doesn't display user location info.

I love this thread, even in dry seasons or when I can't get out to hunt myself, I still get to vicariously enjoy other peoples cool finds.

Great work Pimento. :worship:

Can't believe you've found A muscaria already. I've been on a few hunts already this year including a huge, all day hunt yesterday and it's very dry around. No lactarius, no suillus, no amanita, no tricholoma, no macrolepoita in any of my spots. Basically, bugger all is out yet. :BANGHEAD2:

Some massive fucking gymnopilus junonius a Tapinella panuoides and some mycena was about it.
Oh, and a cool bird with a red belly. And a geocache. That was it.

Yesterday's pics below.

Oh yeah, and a couple of pics from a hunt about 2 weeks ago. 28/03/2015

Dead porcini, heaps of dead ones, none suitable to collect. I could hardly believe they had popped that early. Has been no more since this flush though...

finding them coprinus is cool Zed, they are a majestic fungi.

may your porcini hunts be fruitful :wave-finger:

i will find a damn porcini patch this season, i will , i will...........

the bird is a scarlet robin - http://birdlife.org.au/bird-profile/scarlet-robin

sexy things they are, i followed one around last season for an hour trying to get a real good pic, it would pose real well n id get all ready and then it would fly off again a short distance and id try again.

I'm going out again today as I'm thinking i may know a spot where i may find some more early inactives

If this is some Hericium sp.

I have eaten once dried and they were bitter.. but they're suppoed to be eaten very fresh and young

if you want mushrooms that taste like seafood, you have to try Amanitas rubescens or / and Coprinus comatus too.

Saffron milk caps are bountiful if you can find a place the gypsies haven't clear felled.

If I was hunting amanitas today, I could have filled semi trailers. They were so thick you could hardly take a step without treading on one.
