newageshaman Posted August 20, 2013 yeah mate columnar cacti are piss easy to get to root, i would personally take those two pups from the top of the big column and plant those too. After they strike it shouldn't take to much for them to heal up and start throwing more pups
AndyAmine. Posted August 20, 2013 Personaly Id cut it up into some 30cm logs and plant most of them upright and a few on their side.I find that logs from older sections/cacti take longer to root when planted sideways , Im guessing because the skin is thick and tough or something. Ive lost a few choice cuts that way, while the upward ones rooted OK.I was thinking, perhaps an aplication of cloning gel may help things along though because also soften the skin.
