Beautiful Tree ID

On my way to uni, i often walk past this magnificent tree, i have often wondered what it might be so i took a couple pics today, hoping someone here could ID it for me.

I would love to have one for my own garden

Possibly a fruit tree? maybe an apple? Keep watching it through spring & get some pics of new growth & flowers. Good luck.

Hmm i have a feeling it isn't a fruit tree, but i can't be sure. Yeh i'll take some more pics once it has leaves.

Maybe knock on the owners door and ask? They might let you take a cutting - it looks like it's had a fair bit of pruning done in the past.

Do you recall the shape of the leaves bogfrog?

It might be an Acer circinatum , Pacific purple vine maple ???! http://oregonstate.edu/dept/ldplants/accipf1.htm

Hey yes i think you could be right, i do remember it having maple-like leaves

One step closer to having this in my garden yay thanks Amz, i'll get onto some googling

Edit: missed your post but thats a very good idea IndianDreaming, i'm pretty sure its a motel, and most establishments like that don't seem to care much about plants, as long as they keep living and looking nice.
