Problems at work, advice wanted

Recommended Posts

Geez, that's rough. Hope they just don't have much work at the moment and they call you up soon.

Hi Jox, I read your post above. It does sound like you have been treated very unfairly and the mob you were working for have not completed their duty of care in firstly, making sure you had completed the induction training module before you lifted a finger for them and also they are bastards for not caring for you while you were unwell because of their negligence and 1930's attitude to duty of care and workers comp rights.

I am just a lay person not a lawyer but I have worked in personal injury practices for some 10 years, I know there are lawyers that you can see where your first consultation is free, I suggest Maurice Blackburn lawyers - they are everywhere or Slater & Gordon lawyers - they also have offices all over. I don't understand how anyone can be put on unpaid leave unless you are on salary, and from memory the only people who are put on unpaid leave are put there as disciplinary action like police officers and the like.

If I have learned anything from working with lawyers for the last 20 years there is usually a way around a problem (my partner -leaves - just said 'even if it involves a spear gun and grenades')

I strongly suggest you speak with a personal injury specialist as outlined above - I know both these firms are and no I don,t work for either of them, but have dealt with them from other firms - I know they are very good at what they do. In the meantime, if I were you I would find another job but write every detail of dates, names, etc you can remember and get any copies of medical certificates or notes you can from your former employer and their doctors and contact WorkCover. If WorkCover cant do anything at least your employers name will run through WorkCover - it might raise some interest with them as it sounds like they have probably done this type of thing before and someone else would probably have complained about their malpractice.

Cheers

Gumnut
