Hahaha :P

Nope I've seen the light..or should i say tasted the lamb.

Just you wait WB.. Ceres is the goddess of agriculture, the harvest, and pumpkins.. Folk-lore dictates that she was fond of blood sacrifice..

No action here from the comp seeds that can be visibly noticed. My daughter put down one and it has burst through the soil was a very big seed no pedigree, I got from a QLD seed supplier. Hopefully in the next couple days my comp seeds will go bang.

My seeds arrived yesterday! I'm in the game B) .

Thanks for the offer though Waterboy!

I've lightly sanded 12 seeds. Six are soaking as we speak. The other six are straight into the paper towel / sandwich bag on the computer HDD method

The remaining ones are going to be experiments.... my frankenstein pumpkins are coming for you... be afriad... be very afraid!

I'll post pics up soon!

After soaking them for a week I planted them in soil yesterday. I'm a fan of long soaks for acacias and figured it couldn't hurt a pumpkin.

I am out. :(

I have decided to put my time into all of the other half finished projects that I have on the go.

Getting my Trich's in the ground this year is the first of a long list plus my lovely wife is still giving me that look every time I mention giant pumpkins

You guys will know the look when there eyes glaze over as she pictures a noose tighting around my testicles. :)

Cheers

Got

Well I learnt that you dont wanna remove the shell before the baby pumpkin decides its ready, that seed just went a funny colour and died.

The other two sprouted a root each, and I have now potted them up in my nicest garden soil with lots of worm-castings and rainbow love magick.

I had a bit of a scare, well i suppose this still might come back to bite me in the ass later in the comp, but i was recently educated about phytophthora, and the fact that it can go dormant and then restart itself once the right conditions arise again. Sadly this education came AFTER i used soil from old tomato plants which had been infected with phytophthora in my greenhouse garden bed, and even dumber than that, I potted my pumpkin seeds in that soil at first >:I

I took them out once I realised (i was very f*cked off) and washed them really well, before potting in new soil, and praying for the best.

Grrrr. Damn you phytophthora, you bastard.

Phytophthora spp. Are mostly pathogens of dicotyledins, and are relatively host-specific parasites.

I have to clean vehicles and equipment at times due to phytophthora (and other diseases and shit), it is interesting that in some places you only see a couple of species being smashed in a vegetation assemblage.

Looks like I have 3 up for action.....

well couldn't resist so dug around the the pots of the non-starters.

one has showed life and stalled, but I reckon I can get it moving through intensive care....if it gets up, its going.

The rest have gone to mush.....such is life

My mycorrhizae I am going to trial arrived today

The other one doesnt look too far behind either, i can just see the tiniest lil bit of green.

Sweet.

WB you better be sowing more seeds if your first lot went to mush.

No backing out now mate ;)
