Auxin Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) Is there a database hidden somewhere on the web listing chromosome counts and ploidy of species of genus Mammillaria like the one for Salvia[*] ? The bastard genus doesnt stick to the traditional 2n=22 I keep wasting time making crosses that I eventually find out didnt even have matching chromosome numbers and I cant find a list of numbers! Heres a start: albilanata 2n=2x=22angularis 2n=2x=22armillata 2n=2x=22asteriflora 2n=2x=22bocasana 2n=2x=22boolii 2n=2x=22bombycina 2n=2x=22brandegeei 2n=2x=22compressa 2n=4x=44crucigera 2n=2x=22decipiens 2n=2x=22dealbata 2n=2x=22dixanthocentron 2n=2x=22elegans 2n=2x=22flavicentra 2n=2x=22gemimspina 2n=2x=22grandiflora 2n=2x=22gummifera var. applanata 2n=2x=22gummifera var. meiacantha 2n=2x=22haageana 2n=2x=22hahniana 2n=2x=22huitzilopochtli 2n=2x=22lanata 2n=2x=22microcarpa 2n=2x=22muehlenpfordtii 2n=2x=22occidentalis 2n=2x=22parkinsonii 2n=4x=44parkinsonii 2n=8x=88plumosa 2n=2x=22prolifera 2n=2x=22prolifera (Cuba) 2n=6x=66prolifera (Haiti) 2n=4x=44rhodantha 2n=2x=22ruestii 2n=4x=44san-angelensis 2n=2x=22sempervivi 2n=2x=22supertexta 2n=2x=22vaupelii 2n=2x=22woodsi 2n=2x=22wrightii var. wilcoxii 2n=2x=22zeilmanniana 2n=2x=22 Edited August 27, 2013 by Auxin
Evil Genius Posted May 4, 2013 Hi Auxin, im sure there is one somewhere but i dont know where to find it right now. Auxin Posted August 27, 2013 I had a M. bocasana make a fruit with M. sneaky-neighbor-cactus so I had to look this back up In the doin' I organized my data and put it in post 1, it covers about a fifth of the genus. And it looks like I may have got a few M. bocasana X M. rhodantha F1 seeds, yay.
