Mammillaria thread photo welcome

Recommended Posts

Love those shots. Wow! One of my Mammillaria sonorensis (aka M. craigii) seedlings has a single bloom poking through, but unfortunately it is at my office and I'm praying it can wait until Monday...though I'll probably forget to bring in my camera anyhow. I have another half dozen or so at home that are even bigger and have never bloomed, but that is probably because they are in the dark for the winter. Looks like they will all be headed to my office, at least for next winter.

Well of course I forgot to bring the camera in on Monday, but I was lucky enough to remember it Tuesday.

What awesome cacti Mammillaria are!!

I have a few in my collection, some I have bought, most I rescued from a garden last year. My photos aren't the best but I will add them anyways :). The first lot are ones I have names for & I have dropped a lighter in the pics for size reference.

This next lot of photos are ones that I don't have a name for (I have been to busy to work them out yet ). None of them have flowered for me yet but if you see something obvious please let me know . I have added a lighter to these photos to.

Is this cheating? I originally received it as M. craigii but believe it is now known as M. heyderii

I don't have any outside culture as they hate the humidity here, but a FOAF has a few regens of this in his collection

Still havent extracted the names. I am terribly disorganised these days. But doing lots of research on old electronic keyboards, some DIY noise-maker

circuits and basics of sound circuits, also doing a lot of cactus work and also picked my first lot of morchella's [40 specimens to eat in a 4 egg omelete, more of a morchellas with few eggs. Delicious as always.

Some Mammi's flowering at this part of the world, celebrating the begining of the season!

AMAZING COLLECTIONS EVERYONE!!!!!

everyone with the 'flu' show off, yeah!

it delivers in another level too, for the forum and community and all. shows the range and the size of contact with plants and cacti and natural states in general, not just a bunch of extremely psychoactive plants worshipped in the community

I got a fine book named 500 Cacti [KEN PRESTON-MAFHAM]

well I got it for 5 euros I think, and its the most fucking awesome cacti book I could ever imagine, not that I have much on cacti.

I mention it, because the 1/7 of the book is mamillarias !

the notes of the writer are spot on, and this is a cactus specialist that has both visited the plants in the natural habitat and grown from seeds collected in marked spots. The writer is very informative on the different strain sold in the market.

I consider this book a masterpiece, and if I lost it, I would give easily 30 or 40 euros to get it.

I wish it didn't have so many mammis, because then it would have more of other stuff. Just kidding. Awesome book.
