I think so. Its spines were a bit shorter then because of etiolation but they're looking better now. I also Bapped one of the areoles but just a black spine popped out. I'll try again this spring.

I got one Crested (non-PC pach) from a batch of seed...about 18 months old growing outside in Phoenix. I'm not particularly fond of crests but this one looks like it is also growing sprouts so it should be interesting...maybe it will just develop into a large cluster?

Cute little graft freak of mine.

It is a "ming thing" or Cereus Forbesii monstrose. i grafted a small areole from a mother plant and the way it grew into a partial crest here is cool, its not a true crest but its still a ming thing monstrose, it just happens to look double weird.

You will notice the callous spots, it had a battle with the dreaded orange rot.

Weird growth on my penis cactus aka trichocereus bridgesii monstrose. this pup is producing areoles and spines. this picture is a couple weeks old but its still producing really bumpy growth

Lophophora cristata graft pupping........ When I grafted this part I thought it will grow from this growing tip, however it started growing from the other side, where there was another hidden growing tip

So I went to an collectors house today, it was beautiful, but I also got what he said was a Trichocereus pasacana that had planted 30 - 40 years ago.

Anyway, I got a cut of the tip due to the fact that it something funky going on.

I feel like it is some sort of Melted Wax or Monstrose version of pasacana.

Then again, I'm not even sure if it is pasacana.... what do you peeps think?

Also got this reallllllly old log of Schottii monstrose that had fallen in between heaps of larger columnars. It's very sexy as well.

Oh, AND two decent sized cuttings of really melty Melted Wax Bridgesii's

I'm almost inclined towards Azureocereus hertlingianus... It's probably not. The spines aren't the right colour. But the 4th and 7th pics look like it. I would say most likely not a trich anyway. Unless chiloensis sometimes produces black spines. I dunno. Cool plant anyway whatever it is

This is an SS02xPachanoi grown from Mel/vin seeds. The original seedling was a runt that looked funky and it wasn't growing that fast so grafted an areol to a SS02xBridgesii. It's displaying these rib alternation characteristic. Should be interesting to see how it'll turn out.

Grafted this a couple of weeks ago, T. Pachanoi monstrose X SS02, it started throwing out some interesting growth. Not sure if it's going crested or just funky monstrose growth at the moment... It was the lightest seedling in the bunch so I grafted it in hopes that it was variegated. I can't wait till it gets a bit bigger

What appears to be a monstrose SS02 x Lumberjackus seedling..

The Lumberjackus itself sometimes goes a little monstrose, as columns first form.. The initial cutting of Lumberjackus I received way back in the day had a full-on wise old earth gnome face in it - see the pic below the seedling - that pic is from years ago, but the face remains since I've never pruned it back down below that

there are indeed two forms of myrtillocactus crest. the true crest seen in the background of one of the photos and the more 'melted wax/monstrosa' one. I would love to see what the crested form would do grafted.

Yea that T. shaferi is awesome - never heard of it either..

On the topic, does anyone know how they determined that TBM is actually a bridgesii and not another species? I'm wondering because you'd think you'd see that phenotype coming up in the crosses that were made with the TPM/TPC etc - but it has not thus far..

My main shaferi monstrose crested and was pretty slow. It got top heavy and fell over a few times, snapping off at the base eventually. The ones I grafted to spachianus are taking off. I'll be doing more grafts this year, and one is headed to NZ soon so you may have a chance to get one before too long.
