two forms of myrti monstro/crest

P1120978.jpg P1120979.jpg

melted wax columnar semi-monstrosa bridgesii . One could argue its a full blown monstrosa clone, doesn't get regular except for short periods..

Awesome. Are the bridge and myrti crests from one of the Italian sellers on eBay? They have some amazing cacti!

the bridgesii crests are indeed from a fine italian seller which resides on ebay yes

but the myrti crests, NOT:

the "melty" one is sourced from a big weird motherplant from a commercial grower here in greece.. its not particularly crest dominant..

I will try to take a photo of this sometime if I get the chance.... but I think its the same thing he sells in ebay, the same strain which definately seems to be geometrizans..

the other , cresty one, is coming from a fine US dude, this I am becoming convinced its not a geometrizans, I am not sure if its a myrti anymore..

I should add I have another 3rd clone from another fine US dude , it came grafted... this can be the same "melty" clone, or it could be another strain, and even a myrti cochal..

Having grown true geometrizans for some years and cochal to a lesser degree and also seedlings that appeared to be geometrizans at first, but might well be geometrizans X cochal, I am begining to see how they are quite similar...

Just a bit off topic...but the geometrizans you grew from seed.....I've grown a few as well, & wondering how many years they take before they flower?

Not sure I can help ya.... My biggest myrtis where destroyed from frost.. I haven't seen a myrti flower yet.. I do have planted one in the ground recentlyy, I expect it to be my first flowerer if ever ... in seedling form it will take tham a good 4 years or more to become big, and they like big pots.. Perhaps its some 8~10 years from seed...

I guess your frost are mild so this limit is wrong then, 9a: to -6.6 °C (20 °F)...(thats 1 lot for inside).

DW> the frost that killed them was not on my roof (elevation : zero) but in the old GH it gets colder there. Other than that all the myrtis, even the breast that seems less hardy that the other 2-3 strains, seem to be fine all year round on my roof, breast might get minimal scarring, but they do this anyway, in time...

how to tell cochal from geometrizans? longer and more reddish spines, pups high in the column not the base like geometrizans does.. or at least this is my impression

thanks! I am really into monsters... so fucken great shit!

hey dudes I am lazy as it gets! I am supposed to be a producer lol ... a small producer, but producer nevertheless.... I am supposed to have many! wtf!!! the injury and discovery of serious disc-slip surely didn't/ doesn't exactly help with plans to expland.. and accidents and fuckups with the GH also, BUT, but I am a propagation freek alright... have always been ... love cloning, and clonging monsters is so fucking creative and interesting!

perennial fucken plants rule dude, like animals and so ;)

hostilis>>

you say I ahve a lot.. of pachanoi crest namely... yeah... I have them for some 5 years now... I have many yeah... have sold a bunch too.. did you notice I dont have many big ones??How come, 5-6 fucking years in fin climate...!!?! that's because I {{had to}} propagate the hell out of them.. I am happy to now allow my self the privilege of having a couple unchopped specimens, planned to remain unchopped, and perhaps flower, but mostly for my own amusement of having these creaturese fully live up, a bit pampered or so what...

now onto phenotype talk

pachanoi crests, thos i got at least, and few people talk about the actual thing, are of two speeds.... I got two pachanoi strains, and they're probably two of the most common strains.. I have come to believe one of the two strains is faster than the other.... and stuff like this...

why dont we not talk about these? is it we just dont notice it, or is it some regard the growing experiences as secrets and they dont share?

as we are about to have many different, well potentially different monster strains with the new batch of pioneer growers of the scene

it would be super cool to now establish some new vocabulary to describe trichocereus pachanoi monstrosities phenotypes... and other monster "behaviours" in othe species as well...

PS: have to remind ya: last year, spidermite, it seems, fucked up many of those pach crests among other things, a spiderpite cactus plague, I could say.. hope it was a year thing!!!
