it looks a bit like the trick pachanoi "kada" crest/monster does, when its stopping making areoles and slows down. This is one of the most beautiful moments of the monstrosity.

Im not even sure what this is, I brought it from bunnings and it sort of looked like a pachanoi. The main column rotted away and all these pups popped out a bit munted.

Man, I wish I had an interesting Bunnings near me. The best I can find is a spach.... and that's not really something at all...

Video works for me. Was that a TBMC that is putting out TBM A sections or a TBM A that put out TBMC sections?

It's a crest of TBM A, originally from Bob Smoley but I gut it from a very generous Nooker called Mitosis

bot 6, now that's what I call a peruvianus crest , I am partly convinced now... !!

P1120019.jpg

some mammilaria that I dont remember which species, grows and propagares easily

P1120020.jpg

here is a group shot of some of my most prized and a bit more rare monsters doing fine for now

I am/was -kind of- in a cutting spree, so I was tempted to chop off a bit those myrti's, but I held myself and watered them

[gosh I even cut TBMC drunk yesterday - BUT: cuttings seem doing fine, "muthers" too, seems I knew what I was doing.... actually I based it on the fact that a wave of exreme heat would gonna hit, typical for summers here, but unusually not yet present in greek summer despite being in end june... hope they can root, theyr not too small...

I have had problem with spidermites in trichos , namely the pach crests / mosntrosa, but also a bit scops, this year.... even a bit in tbms

Would you say the problem I had with pach crests was due to overcutting/overpropagating/stress [and more likely the disasters all cacti went through these last 9 months in my GH] or , like I more likely think, it was a seasonal thing , natural consequence of an unusual cool and wet spring, which had the mite come and hit, unusually late this year, as the heats came just a few day ago, very unusual for us here... ?

PS: the Eulychia was beheaded in one of the disasters, I took the cutt part which was also spiral, but it happened to be a mite friendly rooting enviroment, a couple pach crests also failed to root there, so what did you expect from eulyuchn? I dind realised unlti it was too long... I tryed to graft but the scions were too dry or I fucked up... thankfully its got 3 "heads" again....

Updates on the 2009 TPM x SS02 crosses - I have 3 of these seedlings myself at this point.. Coming along nicely :)

TPM x SS02 v. "Aldous" - here's a side-by-side shot of the mother plant on the left, and then a section grafted to pachanoi that has just exploded - I grafted that thing last summer as a little button and this is what has happened - interesting to to note that the mother plant started out as one of those tight/micro type crests where there's lots of little ribs - vs the other main type that has larger but fewer ribs - once grafted it went tp the larger ribbed crest type..

IMG_2723_zps7397cd3f.jpg

TPM x SS02 v. "Doppelganger" - this one started out monstrosus and has since reverted to normal growth though is also "dichotomous ramisomethingorother" (MS Smith knows the term I'm sure)

IMG_2727_zps2cca38fa.jpg

IMG_2728_zpsf9c2fb5e.jpg

TPM x SS02 v. "HPPD" ;)

IMG_2702_zpsf0288761.jpg

And here's the proud mamma (and father lol) itself - TPM..

My variety goes into regular growth and then back to monstrose - so I suspect a lot of the seedlings that we're growing that started out freakish and then went normal will revert to monstrosus at times as well - the Psycho0 x TPM cross in particular has a bunch that started out monstrose for me and then went normal..

I am not sure if the TPM I have is the same as the one that Mutant over in Spain posts pics of, or if it's the same one that Sacred Succulents grows, or the same as Zelly and whoever else has - I purchased my TPM way back in 2001 or so at a small cactus nursery in southern california that has long since been out of business - if we determine that these TPM's are not all the same clone then I may name the one I have so as to distinguish the crosses from it from other crosses that may occur with TPMs in the future.. At the same time though of course I don't want to name it if it is the same TPM as all the others - lol, so for now it's just TPM :)

Roseii #1 open pollinated - lots of variegated types in this cross - in fact, of what I sowed, 95% or so were short-lived variegated mutants - I saved a few by grafting - this one though is relatively normal except that is terminates ala the macro v. "sausage" (was that plant growing at the same place the roseii was - this seed was from a plant at the Fields farm I believe - this seedling looks kinda like a macro v. "sausage" to me overall).. It also put out areoles in between ribs rather than on the ridge of the rib - check the second photo for that - it was furrier too - used to have this areole fuzz growing all over the space between the rib.. The cactus is wet in this pic - the skin isn't usually shiny like that..

IMG_2743_zpse9887122.jpg

And here's a variegated Roseii #1 open pollinated - not looking so good at the moment - some neglect involved..

Is this a variegated Lophophora?

The pic doesn't show the color difference between the areols.

hey I noticed philo used the name TBM clone A for the bridgesii crest .... is that right or there are indeed 2 penis clones?? I am seeing the crest does a bit of penising, but not for long I reckon...

I thought clone A was the long penis or something...

There are two crest forms I am aware of, tbmc clone a and tbmc clone b. Much like their monstrose counterparts the type a throws long dicks and the type b little chodes when they revert.
