GoOnThen Posted July 7, 2013 Good job on the crests GOT Thanks mate Are all the peruvianus crests hellonasty's TPMxSS02 clones? I have rearranged the pics. The first one is the one from hamiltons I think. The second lot of four are cut from one cutting and the last two is the original cutting plus a graft. Both are Hellonasty's cuttings. A couple more Grafted Gymnocalycium ( not my graft) Harrisia jusbertii Mammillaria bocacsana Fred ( hopefully a different form than my other one) Cheers Got
Auxin Posted July 7, 2013 Not a freak yet, but I'm optimistic. It got grasshopper bit, another bridge of the same size got the same damage and grew out normally, so I hope I'm seeing the origination of a monster.

myco Posted August 8, 2013 pups tend to do that it will begin to grow normally soon
tizocAu Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) I would believe u guys if I didnt know that these are from the sam e cut I think its choosing a new number of ribs And not to mention that originally the stump had 2 heads and monstrose growth Im pretty sure its morphing Edited August 8, 2013 by tizoc4u
myco Posted August 8, 2013 if you stated that the rest of it has shown monstrose growth im sure we wouldnt have thought of it as normal IME pach pups tend to show growth like that very often when they are small they usually grow out of it pretty quickly however with the new pictures you've posted the plant clearly shows monstrose growth so yes that pup could potentially continue with monstrose growth aswell
paradox Posted August 8, 2013 fair enough bro, it's just that every 2nd pup on almost any trich looks like that as they try to choose how many ribs to stick with in the beginning.. might be hard to say whether to define that plant as monstrose or just pronounced rib shifting, is pretty common, but seems to be genetic in some plants so possibly could be defined as such
tizocAu Posted August 8, 2013 U guys could be right. But u would think that it wouls want to stay in line if it was shosing more ribs. This one started with four then shifteted to more later. Than stoped then it just shifted the position. Ill keep u guys updated.
Optimystic Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) doesn't every trichofarmer go through the stage of getting excited about weird looking offsets?! lolon a Pach monstrose, the weirdest looking offset, out of 5, turned out to be the most regular looking one, while some others look semi monstrose... I thought it was gonna have 8 or 9 ribs but they all ended up with 5-6 on this particular plant... its very common for newly formed stems to start out weird, even on normal plants...I was guessing it was that plant already, but if you would have told me it was a PC pach I woulda believed you cause they do that too! Just one or two ribs off can make a huge difference in appearance with some of these columns, and alot of shift can happen when they've barely been introduced to sunrays... I can think of an excellent example at the moment but whew im so tired, it was hot as funk today - and then I had pizza its too early to tell, however since you know the mama, that changes everything... It will eventually do its thing, maybe right away, maybe not, but just be patient, the best things come to trichofarmers who wait, but since you have the mama, you already have an idea of the growth habit - eh, I really did think all these plants would help me with patience but instead they keep me pretty anxious ... I don't count aereoles anymore tho Edited August 8, 2013 by Spine Collector
bogfrog Posted August 8, 2013 doesn't every trichofarmer go through the stage of getting excited about weird looking offsets?! lol Hehe, I know I did! Shifting ribs is pretty common. It often happens due to change of environment.
nitrogen Posted August 9, 2013 (edited) 20130323_132942.jpgI would believe u guys if I didnt know that these are from the sam e cut And not to mention that originally the stump had 2 heads and monstrose growth Im pretty sure its morphing Yea that looks just like my TPM - which goes in and out of monstrose growth.. What country do you live in tozoc4u? I got my TPM at a small cactus shop in California USA - maybe 10 years ago.. Same place I got my TPC.. Edited August 9, 2013 by nitrogen
Optimystic Posted August 11, 2013 yeah those are both very similar plants, particularly the non-monstrous parts... someone mentioned that before but now looking closer i wonder if they might be very closely related like from the same batch or even maybe the same clone perhaps... being both from the cali area that's probably not too far fetched but then again theres alot of cacti in cali... I gots an idea... you both send me a branch and we'll see if they grow the same in Texas haha J/K
irabionist Posted August 12, 2013 Already posted this but I might as well post it here aswell! Monstrose Pach
