i found this crest on new years, it was a huge cactus with a lot of crested branched, so i asked the owner and he gladly told me to take whatever i want. So i took this piece. i thought it was an opuntia type of cactus but now i'm doubting it since it doesn't have any glochids

this lophophora graft is displaying a freakish swelling, but i'm guessing it'll probably be pup under the skin

Hey guys, just out of interest how much would a cutting from my loph will crest go for around here, it was seed grown, showed signs of strange growth being a solitary and then it was grafted and became a crest, im not sure how much they are really worth, but i will have one spare, im taking a couple and giving a couple to a mate, so it wont be wide spread, just curious, sorry if its in the wrong spot here i just figured you guys would know, cheers

Hey Tipz, nice looking plants! I really dig your eulychnia. Is the eulychnia castanea var discoid monstrose a different form than the eulychnia castanea var spiralis, or is that just another term for the same form? (Looks the same to me, but there might be some detail I'm overlooking  )

Eulychnia Castanea var monstrose :

Description: This odd plant is known in cultivation under quite a lot of different names (among them, "spiralis", "varispiralis", "spiraliforme", "mostruosa", "monstrose", "monstrous" ) It is a variable cultivar of which we can distinguish at least four basic growing forms:

  1. Columnar monstrous form: Characterized by a lumpy-bumpy monstrous surface, this is the more common form, about 60-75% of the new branch shows this monstrous morphology.

  2. Columnar discoidal form: Characterized by green discs placed one on top of another in a heap. Only 20-30% of branches develop the typical discs.

  3. Columnar spiral form: Characterized by curly, whirly spiral growth that can be equally dextrorotatory or levorotatory, this form is very appreciated by collectors but comparatively rare (about 5-15% of shots shows this admirable feature)

  4. Crested form: Characterized by fan-like sculptural shapes comprising mix of the previously types, this form is very rare and prized.

NOTE: All this form are only growing variant of the same clone, each new branch must show one (or a mix) of the four growing mode and each plant is unique and different.

what do you think? is it a freek? dont know what it is. might be validus. sprout from a lot of a "mix" pack of trichocereus. have shown it again. i have its companions which look ok, and are plumping, and actually seem consistent in their phenotype. Boy I have to sow more shit. heheh

this is a myrtillocactus geometrizans, crest it seems, [coming from a graft] was gifted this from a kind friend from usa, as I was looking for the cresty form of myrti geometrizans for a while. In the mean while I got a another 2 monster myrti, other than the breast , which I already got, which are monstrosa, one from usa and one from greece [source: holland ?] . I hope they are different strains. all new in my hands....
