Master B Posted November 28, 2016 (edited) These were a gift from Change. Thank you mate! The one on the left is variegated.... trust me the photo doesn't do it justice. The one with extra ribs on the right is looking like it might go a bit semi monstrose or dichotomous ??? but we will see? way to many ribs? I also got a nice red Onzuka looking seedling from this batch thanks mate. I will do some better pics on the weekend. Master B Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) @Change @nrivers Here is a few pics for ya Change. Nrivers the asterias with weird yellow fluff is the batch i sent you a few seeds from ( Asterias monster top kikko? i think... very promising though) These are from lots of various breeders and star astro. Must say im very happy with star astro so far.... well worth the coin. Note i have had to put down an arse!! load of seeds to get these wonders. I am just starting to feel good though?... about the huge trades and serious coin that i have spent Lots of variegates, Koh-yo, and Asterias montsrose In no specific order.. nrivers Posted December 5, 2016 Wow Master B! All the hard work paying off in spades!!! I have just grafted some of those seeds two weeks ago and will hopefully have some pics soon Will be looking for that yellow fluff. Will you be grafting some of theses? I have a heap of good size seedlings now (120mm - 250mm). That I am thinking I will graft all my remaining, astros and arios too, for a more permanent stock. Zyppel Posted February 27, 2017 Recently i've repotted aot of my astro's mostly smaller 1-3 year old aesterias. One of them however has stated to split apart from the middle, unsure of why it would as i am VERY cautious of watering and drainage. All the others seem fine so any guesses as to why an astrophytum would just split?
Change Posted February 27, 2017 My guess is it was trigger by the crazy heat wave we had over the last month or so Possibly damaged outer surface cells which may have sent cellular signals to the rest of the plant indicating its time to perform apoptosis Post up some pics

Change Posted February 27, 2017 Its hard to say 1 week out, in my old mix i was loosing 1 or 2 of them per week to rotting, so far post transplant, everything is still alive
Zyppel Posted March 1, 2017 This is the astro, approx 3-4 years old and was a variable one, turned orange from a greenie yellow colour to best describe. I am still little stumped as to the cause of this.
nrivers Posted March 1, 2017 It is not looking good, seem to be splitting from the tip out?
Myeloblast Posted March 1, 2017 It looks to be completely rotten now Zyppel, likely developed root rot from the repotting that traveled up into the body of plant.. sorry but it's definitely done for at this point. Maybe too much organic material in your mix or watered too soon after repotting without enough heat
Spanishfly Posted May 29, 2017 (edited) My Astrophytum myriostigma var. nudum var. quadricostata - with no flecking but 4 ribs, sometimes referred to as the Bishop´s Cap cactus, has again produced a clutch of seeds. The last batch came up with 4 ribs just like Mum. If anyone wants these seeds you can have them for free - just pay my p&p costs. PM me. I am fond of this one as I grew it from seed I had traded - it is the sole survivor of that sowing but has done well since.
